First, I apologize for all the questions. I just need help sorting some things out and really like to understand things thoroughly before I commit.

I am looking into getting a costco membership solely for use in booking a Disneyland package.

According to the Costco website, there is no official difference, benefit-wise, between booking a package at a DLR hotel or a Good Neighbor hotel.

Is this really the case? I understand that there is an unwritten policy of more than one EE into a park if you stay at a DLR hotel. Is this true?

What I READ is sometimes you can get an extra EE if you stay in a DLR hotel. But I've never tried.

FYI - if you buy tickets w/ www.getawaytoday.com you get 2 EE days even if you don't stay on-site. They charge a $10 processing fee but IMO it's worth it. Mommywithdreams has a post w/ the code to get that $10 off.

Resort guests are allowed EE on every day it is offered. You just need to show your charge slip with your ticket at the entrance.

You do get the benefit of early entry every day it is offered when staying onsite (no matter who you book through), but you pay for it BIG, so I wouldn't equate that benefit with the cost of staying onsite. You have to be doing it for the experience of being in the park at night (kind of). Your Costco package does include a meal or character brkfast + $20, so it should pay for itself, but not much more. Just make sure you plan on using the meal, otherwise it is the same as booking on the DL website.

On a different message board, a person at GCH yesterday verified that onsite guests have MM/EE every morning during their stay that it is offered. :)
