Just took advantage of the Free Dining offer and changed our August res from POP to CSR. Because FD doesn't start until 8/28 and we were planning to arrive 8/27 for 7 nights, we are now checking in 8/28 for 6 (and booking 1 night off-site - driving day).

I already have all of my TS booked (we had purchased the dining plan previously under the Kids Stay and Play deal). Need to delete one...

Captain's Grill
Boma
Crystal Palace - dinner
Hoop dee doo Revue (not an option - we're keeping this!)
Cape May Clambake dinner
Garden Grille

Would love to hear your suggestions, thanks!!

I would get rid of either Cape May or the Captain's Grill. Both meals we had here in the past were only mediocre.

I personally would get rid of Crystal Palace. I didn't find anything special about it. The characters were good but the food, meh. I think there are so many better options such as the ones that you have listed. If you want a buffet I really enjoyed Cape May because of all of the options. If you don't like seafood, maybe not. Everyone will have a different opinion thought.

Garden Grill appeals least to me but YMMV.

One way to have your cake and eat it too - switch CP to breakfast and pay OOP. That way you still get those characters, and breakfast is less $$ than dinner.

From a value stand point I would say drop Captain's Grille. I think that is the only one on your list that is not a buffet or family style dining.

We love seafood so are definitely keeping Cape May.

I think it's mostly between Captain's Grille, Crystal Palace (dinner - we did bkfast last trip), and Garden Grill. We've never been to any of these for dinner before. Thinking to get rid of 1 and then just do QS that night somewhere.

Oh decisions.....

I totally agree w/Quinn !! You should change CP to breakfast & pay OOP. I had dinner there last trip & it was good, but I would rather do dinner at
your other choices.

I would drop Garden Grill, only beacuse you said you were going to do QS in it's place. Epcot has a lot more options for QS.

If it is just delete then I would say Boma- have never been there but it really seems to be a place you love or hate (great location but not that fun for kids).

If you are considering oop

CP-use the kids credits/ Captain Grilles kids meals are 7.50 so much chearper

Unless you would order the most expensive entree and dessert per person it might also be cheaper to pay for everyone at Captains Grille instead since you could just order a salad or skip dessert if you wanted.

While at Disney this past February we did 3 of your choices. Garden Grill was one of the best meals we had. Crystal Palace was by far the worst meal we had on a Disney property. My DD loved doing the conga line with Pooh, but the food was actually pretty awful.

Thank you all for your opinions so far!

I am about to drop Crystal Palace for a few reasons. I thought they had different items on the buffet, but we are going to Boma anyway, so that takes care of that. Garden Grill is sit down technically which may be easier with my 2 little ones and the fact that I'll be 29 weeks pregnant. Plus I think my oldest Nathan would enjoy Chip & Dale and Mickey (hopefully!) vs. Winnie the Pooh and friends (who aren't even on tv anymore).

Still considering Captain's Grill but I've read so many great comments about both the food and service. Plus, again being pregnant, it's nice not to fight the food buffet line ;).

I would dump Boma because I do not like my dinner foods sweet and they use alot of vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon etc in their foods.

Or

I would dump Garden Grill because I have never read any positive reviews of the place

We've done all except Captain's Grill, so I can't comment on that. We've had good meals at Garden Grill(though last year was not quite as good as in the past), Cape May and Boma (a must-do for us). CP is adequate, but probably the one I'd drop.

Crystal palace, garden grill or cape may would be my choices to delete. How i would make my choice is

Do you prefer a buffet or family style? If buffet then delete garden grill
Do you love crab legs? If so then keep cape may, if not then delete cape may
Do you love crab legs and family style meals? If so delete crystal palace unless you have a huge pooh fan in your family then its a toss up

No idea about the food as we haven't been yet, but a new Pooh movie is coming out in July so you may want to keep that in mind for your little ones.

i would go without garden grill --

next would be boma simply because we don't have a taste for those foods.

don't delete captain's grille as it truly is a hidden gem!!

I would delete Garden Grill, in fact I ended up deleting it twice in the past, the menu doesn't appeal us at all.

Ok, so I asked my Nathan (he'll be 4 in July) - would you rather eat with Chip & Dale and Mickey or with Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. And he chooses Pooh! How can I cancel Crystal Palace on him???

So now I'm thinking, let's get rid of Garden Grill. Again, I'm hesitant to get rid of Captain's Grill because I have read a lot of great things and it does seem to be an overlooked gem.

Based on food alone, any thoughts on Crystal Palace dinner vs. Garden Grill?

Thanks again!

I'd get rid of CP unless seeing Pooh and friends is absolutely necessary. That is our least favorite.

Edited to add that we loved Garden Grill. The character interaction was one of the best we had on our last trip. Plus we loved the food. We cleaned it up and had more (its all you can eat). To me, CP is just a generic buffet and we don't do much of those, they don't appeal to us.
