I'm inspired by another thread - the one about putting their house on the market and what updates they should do. So, I'm pretty good at telling people what the market looks for as far as decorating tips but I'm lost as to how to decorate my own - wierd huh! I'm usually a neutral kind of girl but absolutely would love color in my house!

This is what I have to work with. I have a 1920's brick bungalow home. It is the craftsman type with the cherry oak mission woodwork throughout. Luckily most of the woodwork is unpainted but there are two places where they painted the window trim. I HATE THAT THEY DID THIS! I truly have beautiful woodwork - in perfect condition. I have lots of crown molding and two sets of mission double doors with the leaded glass window panes. I have a built in mission style hutch that is gorgeous. But...I also have green tinted white paint throughout most of the house! The carpets are also green, most of the time it looks like sage however sometimes in bright light it is more of a celery green. I have to say though, the carpet looks like it was installed yesterday. The lady before me took GREAT care of this house and when we moved in there was not a spot that had any sort of dust on it, including the furnace!

My problem is, what colors go well with this type of carpeting? And, I've got dining room, formal living room and a den/family room that all needs to tie together! I'm loving the olives and reds right now but not so sure how it would look with the mission woodwork (not exactly arts and crafts type colors) and carpeting. Any ideas? I suppose to keep up with the mission style, I should do wraught iron accents? HELP!

We have lived here for 2.5 years and I've been trying to decide what to do this entire time! I'm about ready to just break down and go neutral throughout. My husband isn't crazy about that though!

go to gardenweb.com then click on home forums, then home decorating.

Lots of talent over there.

We also have a board just for that on here.
