Help !!!
i have two options and cant decide what to do.
first choice.. go to disneyland august 22-26 (my daughter turns 1 on the 22nd) along with all 4 kids. Stay at the new courtyard and spend 3 maybe 4 days at the parks. (depends if we go to the park we arrive or not)

2nd option- cancel that trip and rebook for december 5-10 and spend 3-4 days in the parks and 1 day at universal studios. but staying at the homewood suites by the convention center

we will have our kids on both trips. they are aged 7,5,3,1

December the would have to miss a week of school august they dont miss any since they dont start until september this year..

Weather wise, crowd wise, park hours (longer the better) Which would be our best bet???? so conflicted !!!!

also keep in mind we have done disney before this isnt our first trip and we have done universal twice already !!

That depends on some things. Do you really want to see Christmas decorations? Are your kids good students and able to catch up after a week of missed school? Consider the district and school policies for absenteeism. Are you early risers and can be at the parks by 8? Or do you prefer to sleep in? Will you be upset if a major ride or two are closed? Do you really want to see the parade and fireworks? How are your kids outside in the cold, and possibly rain?

I think crowds could be similar for both trips, so that is not a big consideration. Early December hours are shorter than August hours. The weather is cool, and even cold, in December with a higher chance of rain. We've experienced a rainy December day at DCA. Weather can be hot, hot in August, though I see you're thinking water park at the hotel. Haunted Mansion will close sometime towards the end of August, but some other rides could be closed in December.

December means Christmas. Christmas decorations and meeting Santa. The Christmas parade, etc. But the first week of December isn't likely to have long hours since it's not peek season. Disney in December is beautiful and magical.

August is sooner, yeah for a Disney summer vacation. Your kids won't miss any school, another plus, but they're young so it's not the end of the world if they miss a few days (though a week is a lot). You'll have the early hours to get a lot done, and the parade and fireworks will still be showing nightly. After Labor Day that could change.

Christmas decor isnt really something high on my list since i have seen them before !! Kids will be in grade 1 and 3 so catchign up for them shouldnt be an issue.

All earlier risers so was hoping to do parks for opening then an afternoon break to take advantage of the waterpark at the hotel (if august) and back in the evening.

my three year old HATES the rain and hates when any rain touches him lol !!!

If Christmas décor isn't important, then I'd say go for August. That's supposed to be a good time to go (not sure about APs blockout status though) as many CA schools are back in session. Sooner is often better :D.

I really feel like august it might be!! I like the idea of the kids going to the water park and the youngest napping at the hotel in the afternoons !!
