Hi all, trying to decide on what to do for next year.

Here is the situation:

1. We have a 4 night cruise planned for October.
2. We also have 1 week in Vero in March to help ring in my 4-0.
3. Baby #2 on the way December 27th

Thinking of cancelling Vero and tacking on a week at DVC in October...maybe not Vero but Beach Club instead. Plus is we can also grab MNSSHP and baby #2 will be more independant by that time.

Downside is DW really thinks we should go away for my birthday. Of course I would love to spend my birthday on Vero Beach instead of in snowy Toronto.

But I am having second thoughts about traveling with a 2 month old and a 2 year old. DW and DD#1 (2 years) are great travelers now and we have never not done a trip because of baby.

It could be great, Baby#2 could sleep thru most of it and we could have a relaxing stay on the beach OR it could be a very trying trip.

Need to decide so we can cancel Vero and I can bank my DVC points.

Any thoughts…

I'd have to say I agree with your wife. Travelling with a 3 month old is probably good timing. You're on a schedule - but not rigid with it quite yet. They sleep for good periods during the day and don't really care where they are - so laying about on the beach is actually possible - although not really for the other parent watching the 2-year old!
I'd say go for it! Of course, if colic is an issue you might decide to escape to Vero on your own...
Just think, the following year you will have a new walker (running and tripping everywhere!) who won't give you a chance to lay out on a beach and relax. It'll be a totally different vacation.
The summer after our youngest was born (he's a May baby), we went camping, cottaging, and drove out to Montreal for a long weekend. No issues! Our 3 year old was great and the baby just went along for the ride. The following summer - we hardly got out of town. He wouldn't sleep unless it was his own crib so we had to always plan to be driving at naptime and back home for bedtime. We didn't get our "freedom" back again until the summer he was 2 - that's a long time to wait between vacations!

Keep your plans, and do both:teeth:

Because you *know* that baby will be oh, 4 weeks old or so, and you and your DW will look at each other and say:
"We cancelled this trip, why, again??"

The extra time to do MNSSHP would be fun, but your DW will be 7months pregnant, and Florida humidity just isn't kind to anyone...(although if you have AP's, I think I would add on an extra day before your cruise, and do the HP;) )

4 Days on DCL, after a quick trip Trick or Treatin'...all good:)

And knowing you're coming back for birthday fun...alll the best:teeth:

HTH!!

:sunny:

Infants are actually easy to take around WDW, or anywhere. They sleep, and-even if they are colicky-love a Snugli! This from experience......I took my November baby in January, and my March baby in May. Some say "crazy", I say, "Who, me?" :rotfl2:
