Ok I have 500.00 in my budget ( no more, none to be aded ) to buy a new wide angle lens. I will be using it when I travel to Disney and other vacations. I like to shoot landscape and night photography and always have a tri or mono pod with me. I have a Canon 40D. My other lens are a 50mm f/1.8 Canon, f/70-200mm f/4 IS Canon L lens, 30mm f/1.4 Sigma and a 17-85mm Canon kit lens.

I am thinking between the Tokina 12-24 f/4 or the Sigma 10-20 f/4 lenses.
I would love to get the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 but that will not be in the budget for 2 years. Next year I have in the budget to upgrade the family computer, so no photography purchases next year.

Thanks for your help!

I was going to suggest the Tokina 12-24 F/4! So one vote for that one I suppose!

anyone else have any input?

You could get the Tokina right now on eBay for $541.20 shipped after CB. Since it's what you state that you want, I would wait until your budget will allow for you to get it (plus, prices can't stay as high as they are on this lens forever).

I did not see a Canon mount Tokina 11-16 on eBay shipped for that price, with CB. Where did you see it?

I'm an idiot. Despite seeing all those Canon lenses listed, I still run my Nikon search. Sorry...

The only thing harder to come by than a Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 Nikon mount is a Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 Canon mount ;).

Hey, it's ok. I thought I was a idiot and kept missing a good deal on the Tokina. I did see one or to on ebay and after CB could be possible, if i wanted to stretch my budget a little.

Ok.... So I ordered a Tokina 11-16 2.8. Got it thru bing with cash back from Adorama (it's on back order). Spent a little more then I wanted, but I am worth it :thumbsup2

Can not wait to see what this lens can do.

Congrats! I purchased mine about a month ago and still have not really taken it for a good work out. :guilty: Enjoy and definitely share what you get on the UWA lens thread. :thumbsup2

Congrats on the new lens. I plan on adding the Tokina 11-16 to my bag very soon. It should be a nice compliment to my 17-55 IS.

All right, Dave! Way to go! "Spent a little more than I wanted" is a phrase that we all know well around here. Glad you got what you wanted and didn't settle.

Based on shots I've seen with that Tokina, I don't think you'll regret it one bit.

Yes, I am very excited to have done my part to help the economy. :thumbsup2
Now, I have to wait for it to show up. Also Todd I can't wait to see some of your pics from your recent trip.
