Help me decide where to go!

Okay, I posted a week or two ago that we waitlisted HHI for August 9 for a week. We just joined (june 19) and we discussed with our rep that we already had planned another trip in August and he assured us we'd have no trouble Anyway, I'm losing faith that we'll get HHI. Every time I call, the CM practically laughs at me for booking so late. Ok,Ok, I get that. So, we decided to try an exchange. We've checked nearly eveywhere we can drive to - we are in Ohio and NOTHING! So, what should we do? Should we place a search through II? Can we do this if we have a waitlist for the same week? If so, what happens if one comes through, can we cancel the other and how quickly are we notified? Sorry, for so many questions. We have this week off and all these points an nowhere to go Any advice for this DVC newbie???

Were I in your shoes, I'd consider banking the points (if possible) and planning the next trip on an 11-month or 7-month window. Short-notice bookings can be unreliable. I feel sorry for you!

You can try seeing what is available for other DVC resorts, the World Passport Collection, the Concierge Collection or the Disney Collection . . . and if the waitlist fails, then bank the points.

Most exchanges are gotten with an ongoing request through II (waitlist). You could put in a wait list for DVC and II and given you don't have enough points for both, still be protected. You might lose your $95 exchange fee if you matched both but that's about it. Just make sure you have it set up so they won't borrow points and give you both stays (DVC & II).
