Help me decide, Thanksgiving or Christmas 2010?

Okay, so not for the actual holiday, but right before. Do you think it would be better to go Nov 21-24 or Dec 19-22 of 2010? Both sets of dates are Sun-Wed. We've never been to DLR during Christmas season and I'm dying to see it. I also keep reading about all the seasonal holiday treats and I can't stop dreaming about eating them! Dh says I'm obsessed. We are heading there next week for the first time in 4 years and I can't wait. Everytime there is a silent moment in the house, I tell the kids, "Let's talk about Disneyland!"

Well.....since I believe that Thanksgiving 2010 will be Nov, 25......I would avoid that week entirely (even though you would leave right before Thanksgiving Day). From what I understand, Thanksgiving week is one of the busiest weeks of the year. At least your Christmas dates are a few days before Christmas. But it will probably be busy too. Hmmmm. Another thought.....if you go in December, will you have enough time when you get back to be ready for Christmas celebrations at home? We always go the week after Thanksgiving, and sometimes I think we don't have enough time after that to get ready for Christmas....even though its nearly a month. I think its hard to come down from a Disneyland trip....I always just want to go right back!

Well I'm a planner, as you can prob tell since I started this post, so I am usually ready for Christmas early. I don't host any celebrations, both my mother and MIL are in town, so all I have to do is help with the food. Thinking about it though, maybe DLR and Christmas *would* be too much excitement for one week. We have to go during school vacations though, dh teaches and won't play hookey. If he would, going the beginning to mid December would be ideal for me. In betweeen Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Even if it is busy.....its still the holidays at Disneyland!!!! Can't get any better than that. Good luck with the planning.....that is such a fun part of the vacation experience!

Ok we went in December last year and it was MAGICAL. I mean ya..disneyland magical blah blah BUT..there's a certain special element. It's just..so pretty.

It's fun to hear Christmas music, smell christmas treats...see people all decked out for Christmas.

I haven't tried Halloween, however, and it's our second favorite holiday so we're dying to go then too.

I'm entirely not helpful ;)

Funny...I was wondering the exact same thing as the OP. We are also bound to school holidays for travel because my DH is an assistant principal. (And a big part of his job is dealing with attendance issues of both students and faculty.) Our school district gives the entire week of Thanksgiving off, and that week works for me since I already get Thurs/Fri off (only have to use 3 vacation days to get the whole week off).

We just got back a little over a week ago and DH and I are more than ready to go back. I'm hoping to make it for the holidays in 2010. But, if that doesn't work out, definitely 2011.

Any other opinions on visiting DLR the week of Thanksgiving vs. right before Christmas???

Do you think it would be better to go Nov 21-24 or Dec 19-22 of 2010?

I would say the November dates. I think both will be crowded, but November possibly slightly less so.

I would do the December dates. Nothing beats Disney at Christmas!:santa:
