Hi! We'll be doing the basic DDP in May and evidently need to decide on our ADR's... We'll have 8 TS credits per person and so we need to cut down our list to just 8 (don't think we'll be springing for any 2 credit meals). Soo if you guys could help me out by suggesting which ones to keep/which to ditch and why, and also any suggestions that aren't on the list, it would be very much appreciated! :) Here's the list (in no particular order) TIA!
Tusker House - breakfast
Chef Mickey's - breakfast
Biergarten - lunch/dinner
Le Cellier - lunch/dinner
50's PT - lunch/dinner
Sci Fi Dine In- lunch/dinner
LTT - lunch/dinner
Coral Reef - lunch/dinner
Crystal Palace - lunch/dinner
Garden Grill - dinner

Our list was very similar. I think it would also depend on if you have kids and their tastes. We dropped Le Cellier because of the kids. LTT has no characters now so if that was your motivation you can easily drop that one. You have a lot of Epcot meals will you be there for that many days or do you have hoppers ? I found more at Epcot then anywhere else that we wanted but trimmed it down to three. So maybe you can lose an Epcot restuarant or two.

I would cancel the LTT and add one 2 credit meal at the California Grill. As mentioned before, LTT doesn't have the characters anymore and in my opinion it is not worth the price of a sit down meal. (For four of us it was @$100 if I remember correctly)
We love Chef Mickey's but were disappointed to find that Chip n Dale have been replaced by Donald Duck. Le Cellier is great for a one table service credit. I love the pretzel bread sticks!
I have also heard great things about Boma, but have never been there.
Just some things to ponder.
It is all about being together with family and friends and being flexible (but make ADR).

Chef Mickey's and Donald's Safari Breakfast (Tusker House) are very similar - loud, full of kids, and somewhat exhausting (and you've also got the same characters at Garden Grill). If you don't have kids that are crazy about seeing the characters, I'd recommend choosing only one of these meals... probably Chef Mickey's, since that's a difficult ADR to get, and there are more characters. And the atmosphere is slightly cooler, having the monorail above.

If your only reason for choosing LTT was the characters, then you might want to drop this ADR. If you want to keep it, I suggest lunch - the menu is much better. Great food.

A lot of people (including my parents) don't think Coral Reef is worth the money. However, it's really cool as long as you get a view of the aquarium (don't let them seat you anywhere else). The food isn't anything exceptional, but the atmosphere is really cool.

Same goes for Sci-Fi. Really cool atmosphere, but only decent food.

If you decide to use two credits for signature dining, California Grill is a good choice. If that's booked, then I recommend Artist Point at the WL.

Have a wonderful time at WDW!

I'd say it depends on what you are looking/going for...

The food,
The characters,
The atmosphere, experience.

I try to book a variety of places, to give us a little "taste" of everything.

What are the ages of your children?

Tusker House - breakfast - Never tried it.
Chef Mickey's - breakfast - Great character interaction, good food. Went for breakfast. A family favorite.
Biergarten - lunch/dinner - Never tried it, my family doesn't like what's on the menu.
Le Cellier - lunch/dinner - Great food, love it for dinner, (when we can get reservations.)
50's PT - lunch/dinner - Haven't been since 1997, didn't like the food, but others say they realy enjoy the place.
Sci Fi Dine In- lunch/dinner - Fun theme and atmosphere, so-so food. My children request this place EVERY trip.
LTT - lunch/dinner - Never tried it. No longer has characters.
Coral Reef - lunch/dinner - Great food and atmosphere! My entire family requst to dine here on EVERY trip.
Crystal Palace - lunch/dinner - Food is just okay, (went for dinner) pretty restuarant, fun character interaction. We enjoyed it.
Garden Grill - dinner - Food was so-so, character interaction was good. Haven't been back in over 10 years.

For food and the experience, my family loves Teppan Edo in Japan @ Epcot.
Also, consider some of the resort restaurants.

Of your choices, I would definitely drop LTT, and maybe one of your character meals.

The only thing I would change is LTT. Since there aren't any characters, and the food is so-so, I would use that credit to hop over to Kona or Ohana via the monorail while you are at MK that day.

Thanks for the great advice! I think everyone has agreed that LTT should be dropped, so that will be the first thing off the list. We went there last trip and it was good but I can see it being lacking without the characters. We have a family of 3 adults and one older teen, so we are looking to try some more "adventurous" things. We will definitely look into some of the Poly restaurants too! Thanks again :)

Tusker House - breakfast Keep
Chef Mickey's - breakfast
Biergarten - lunch/dinner Keep
Le Cellier - lunch/dinner Keep
50's PT - lunch/dinner Keep
Sci Fi Dine In- lunch/dinner

We didn't care for Sci-Fi dinner and wouldn't do LTT again for JUST the food with the characters gone.

Here are my votes! I'm new to the boards but not to disney dining!

Also, I wouldn't totally rule out anything until you're sure you can get adr's where you want. I usually go into that call with a few back ups so I don't get disappointed!

Tusker House - breakfast Keep
Chef Mickey's - breakfast Keep
Biergarten - lunch/dinner- Keep if you like the menu- its fun!
Le Cellier - lunch/dinner - Slightly overrated but good steakhouse and 1 credit
50's PT - lunch/dinner I am not a fan of the food or the theme
Sci Fi Dine In- lunch/dinner Hard for us to use as one of our TS credits, food ok
LTT - lunch/dinner
Coral Reef - lunch/dinner Agree w previous posts- so so, fun view
Crystal Palace - lunch/dinner If you like buffets, it's a good one
Garden Grill - dinner would drop to limit epcot meals
