I am so indecisive! My dates are Dec 1st to the 4th (3 nights) for myself, DH and 16 month old. We were looking for a suite but they are too pricey. So now we are looking at the Hilton Anaheim, Desert Palms, or Castle. All 3 will be around $110 a night. Obviously, the Hilton is the nicest, but it's also the furthest and we will be waking.

Where would you stay? Or would you recommend a different property? Desert Palms includes breakfast, other 2 do not. Castle and desert palms appear to be about the same distance.

Thanks! I just can't decide and I really want to make a reservation today as it's getting so close! Also, we would have to go back to the hotel midday for nap time

The Del Sol has some double room type "suites." They are generally affordable and very close to the park. I would also check with Tropicana which is even closer.

Of those three, Castle Inn is the closest and if that is your most important criteria, I would pick there.

You can check out this map to see approximate locations:

Accommodations near Disney

I've been to DLR 8 times. I'm a Travel and DLR Research Fanatic and have a Travel Agent License. The last place I stayed was the best value for location and ameneties unless you want a big pool area. It's the Hotel Indigo. 15 minute walk to Disneyland 5 min walk to shops and restaurants.

If you want a nice pool area for kids to play, then I suggest the Howard Johnson.

The Disney properties are a RIP OFF but if you have money to burn, then the obvious choice is Grand Californian. Nothing comes close to it.

I like Best Western Park Place Inn because it's so close. Our last trip they were booked, so we stayed next door at the Tropicana. If I couldn't get BWPPI, I would totally go back to the Tropicana. I want clean and comfy beds and close proximity.

I hope you have booked something by now.
I checked various locations in walking distance.
They're all quite a bit more than $110/nt.

Good luck

At this point I'm assuming a lot of the closest hotels will be booked. I haven't stayed at Castle Inn, but I know it was recently renovated, and people seem to have been happy there. Since that one is the closest, I would stay there.

You are like me...I tend to stress about hotel decisions because I am usually the one deciding for the family. But your trip is coming up so soon, I would just pick one and then not worry about it anymore. I'm sure it will turn out fine, and best of all you'll be at Disneyland!

Have you tried the new Marriott Springhill suites in the corner or Katella and Harbor? We are staying Thanksgiving week and our rooms average about 122.00 a night plus u pay for parking. Also there is the Candy Cane which is within walking free parking, free wifi, free breakfast and they have their own shuttle.

I actually do already have a reservation at the Hilton but I'm thinking about changing to somewhere closer.

Candy Cane Inn is quite a bit more expensive at $174 a night, so its out.

I just cant decide between the Castle Inn and Desert Palms and was hoping that someone who has stayed at one of the properties could tell me what they think.

I've heard I can take a shuttle from the Toy Story parking lot if I stay at the Hilton. Anyone know if thats true?

Well, I ended up booking the Desert Palms. Its on Katella and Harbor. It looked like it was right by the Candy Cane Inn on the map. It includes parking, breakfast and wifi. Cost $108 a night through Orbitz using bestvacay promo code (expires 11/16). Hopefully, I made the right choice. Looked like the walk is about 10 min closer. That's half the distance of the Hilton which makes a huge difference with a toddler. I'll be sure to report back and let everyone know how it is.

Thanks for the input everyone!

It is SO much more convenient to not have to use a shuttle. Believe me. At the end of the day, waiting for the shuttle really sucks and trying to go back to the hotel for a mid-day rest is a pain. So I too would rethink Hilton.

My suggestion is to go to TripAdvisor and read the reviews of all the properties you are considering. Candy Cane is about 5 min walk close than Indigo but in my opinion not a better deal.

I am all about the Tropicana Inn and Suites. Usually a very reasonable rate, nice comfortable rooms and you certainly cant beat the location being directly across the street from the main gate. Just booked a trip package there the other day.

We found ART (the shuttle) easy to use. I'd go with the Hilton. Or an Embassy Suites.

::yes:: I agree on Hotel Indigo!! :thumbsup2 We stayed at least 5 times this past year and have not had any issues with them!! :cool1:

Definitely check out Tripadvisor's # 2 hotel in Anaheim!! :surfweb:

Quite a lot of experience with the Hilton here:

Although you're citing about $110/night at the Hilton, if you're parking a car you should also consider the $16/night fee in addition to the room rate, resort fees and taxes.

Also, yes, you can walk from the Hilton across Harbor to the Toy Story parking lot and jump onto a Disneyland shuttle that takes you to the Esplanade. The shuttle does not charge its passengers and does not check that you're parked at the lot. The return trip works the same way in reverse: wait at the bus stops outside the Esplanade for the return shuttle to the Toy Story lot.

However, I wouldn't say this saves any time as much as it's easier on the feet. The walk from the Hilton to the Toy Story lot is maybe 5-10 minutes; waiting in line for the shuttle is another 5-10 minutes. At the end of the day, when everyone else is waiting for the shuttle to return to their cars, the wait for a shuttle at the park can take about 15 minutes or more. During the middle of the day, the shuttles don't have much of a wait and move pretty quickly.

I booked my suite at the Marriott Suites Anaheim on Priceline for a good price. I am going in Dec and bid between $70-75. With tax it ended up being around $90 for the night. You can always try priceline for a better deal.
