I have been to HRH twice before and we LOVE it, and I have already booked HRH for our vacation June 9-17th. But I keep reading these glowing posts on RPH and am wondering if maybe I should try something new? :confused3
I have booked a club room and I noticed that RPH is 60$ per night cheaper (that would save me 500$) My favorite thing about HRH is how convienient it is to the parks tho. On the map is just looks like its farther to RPH.. it looks like you have to cross a road to walk in is that right? I really like just walking right in, can someone tell me how far it is? The hotel itself looks lovely , but I would hate to screw up , you know, mess with perfection, all that, but 500$ would help feed 3 hungry teenage boys ya know what I mean.

HELP!

By all means, give the RPR a try! We too had always only gone to HRH but decided to try RPR. It too is convenient to the parks. Once when I missed a boat to the hotel I decided to walk back. It took me 8 minutes to walk back to the RPR from the boat dock at City Walk. The boat I missed passed me on the way, but when I arrived at the hotel, the passengers on that boat were just alighting from their voyage. There is no road to cross to get from RPR to the theme parks.

We've stayed at RPR twice now and loved it both times. The pathway from the resort to Citywalk is along the water's edge, crosses underneath the road and exits next to Margaritaville. Its not a long walk and the distance is probably comparable to HRH's pathway to Citywalk. Also the boat dock is conveniently located too.

this question is interesting to me.

i have always stayed at hard rock.
i have visited friends at royal pacific last year and checked out that hotel.

the walk from rph to the parks is not as short as the one ffrom hrh to the parks. if you go down the stairs in front of the Palm restruarant in the front of hrh, you empty out to the employee parking lot. it is a 2 minute walk to the sidewalk/ same place you would be if you took the regular walk from behind hrh by the pool.
i find that it is shorter to walk from hrh to the parks than take the boat, especially if you are starting your day at US and not IOA.

i have been checking the prices for the hotels for my planned oct 06 visit and find that rph will run $55 less each night than hrh will. i am in a state of confusion on which place to book. i would love to save $165 on a 3 night stay but hate to give up the quick walk from hrh to un. studios

the resturants at rp are better than the kitchen at hrh. only my opinion here folks.

i am at the point where i think i need to toss a coin to decide what to do.
save money or save time......

i do hhn for the 3 nights i am there. when hhn closes up at 2 am, i really need the short walk to the room. by being close to the parks, i can go back to the room mid day and return later for the evening event without feeling i am wasting a lot of down time going back to the hotel.

i hope to see other's thoughts on which hotel would be best.

I do not find the walk from the RPR difficult at all. If you are in relatively good shape, you should not have a problem with the trek. If you end your HHN evening at IOA the walk to your hotel room will likely be 10 minutes (unless you get stuck behind crowds). If that is your only concern, I would not hesitate to try RPR.

hey 40 something, i think that is my only concern.

since the last hurricane and the shortcut way was blocked by the hrh pool, i used the other shortcut which is less than 200 yards to walk to the front of UStudios.

what i do is dress regularly during the day for the park then go back to the room to change into my chainsaw wolf t shirt for the hhn event. i do this around 4ish so i can get back to the stay and scream areas for hhn.

the super short walk is such a pleasure for me.
i think i just hate giving that up. which is really dumb especially since we are looking at $165 plus tax room difference.

I think I will see what my son says...hopefully he wont pitch a fit...he loves that hard rock sooo much  the walk wont bother me, I dont think....I'm just so nervous about ruining the perfect vacation :goodvibes

ok, fill me in.......which word am i missing that makes it dirty......

walking????

We love RPR and the walk is gorgeous. You walk through a tunnel under an overpass. It's right alongside the boat canal. You really don't realize that you are even near a road as it's so pretty.

lindalinda--we also were worried about ruining our vacation by staying RPR instead of HRH the first time we went. Our worries were unfounded. When you have the conversation with your DS, you may suggest that he come up with the $500 if it means that much to him! Besides, I have heard that the RPR club is much better than HRH club (I have never done either myself).

i have done the hrh club 3 times.
2 out of 3 times it was fantastic.

last year, just not worth it for me.

i have read that the people at the club level at rp love it there.
haven't heard many complaints about their service or accomadations at rp. on some threads, they prefer the club at rp over pbh.

Alrighty then, I just booked RPR for June 9th-17th. Club room 263$ AAA. My son did have little cow about it but he'll get over it. For june that seems pretty good, I just wish there was a deluxe room, I couldnt find one available, not sure if they have them on the club level, but it seems like they should. I have seen threads where they talk about exactly which room to get but i have no clue what to ask for as far as that is concerned. Any suggestions for club level? :cool1:

lindalinda, there is an older thread of about maybe a week that is:post your room number for rph........i was looking at it and taking notes.

go there to see what suggestions they have and whenever a room number has been posted, the poster usually makes a comment about it as view, close to elevator etc.

hope lightening doesn't strike me but for hte first time i am leaning towards booking at rph instead of hrh due to $$

I gotta throw my 2 cents in here folks!

I'm looking at it just the opposite. We stayed at the RPR and don't want to "ruin" our vacation by risking a stay at the HRH! Ha! Quite the opposite!

We loved the tranquility of the RPR and the choices in dining. We found the buffet to be excellent and loved it when Shaggy and Scooby came around to our table.

Our DD7 loved the pool at the RPR. We walked to the parks twice instead of taking the water taxi. The walk is nothing. It's not like we're talking 30 minutes compared to 5. We're talking 8 minutes compared to 2. Think about that. It's a very short amount of time. The flowers along the walk area are astounding in their color and beauty and we ogled them each time we walked past them.

I was thinking the pool at the HRH would be fun but neither my DW nor I are big rock fans to appreciate the memorabilia on display.

I'm leaning toward the RPR again...specially if it'll save me money. I was under the impression that all three Universal Resorts were about the same price. Hmmmmmm.
