I was looking at the Cricut today at Mike's...they have it for $299.99 w/George cart, 2 pads of paper, trimmer, tool kit, spatula tool, 2 replacement blades and 3 cut mats.....

- Is this a good deal?
- Is the Cricut really worth the $$$?
- I understand the font carts but with the other's is it for paper piecing?
- What other carts are a must have (other than Disney of course) I have DD 7.
- How easy is it to run, I know it doesn't need the computer, but I'm afraid I will get frustrated with it.:headache:

I was thinking of asking for it as a b-day (Sept) gift from DH so I have time to look around at other lss (not that we have a bunch in Modesto) and Jo's and we have a Beverly's (like Mikes).

Please give your opinion, I don't want to make a mistake on such a pricey item, I know the DISsers won't do me wrong. :flower3:

Thanks everyone!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE mine! I use it all the time. I just finished my dad's father's day card (I have also done my BF's birthday card and mom's mother's day card) on top of scrapping.

It is SOOO easy to use

I love my Cricut.:thumbsup2 I don't know if that's a great deal or not. ACM has it on sale alot lately for $124 that is with only one cart. I'm using my bug so much more then I ever thought I would. It's very easy to use. I know some scrap book stores offer class on the Cricut.

I gave in and bought mine at ACM last week for the $125 price- tried it for the first time yesterday, and aside from getting accustomed to the sticky pad, love what i am able to do.
They do have the cartridges on sale at ACM this week at 40% off. I am sure that once school is out and I have more time to play (next week), I will learn many of the tricks people always mention to make my scrapbooks, and bulletin boards, more attractive. Caroline

Hi - I just wanted to let you know that Hallmark Scrapbook has the same bundle for $219. I ordered my Cricut through them 2 weeks ago and got that same bundle (it was $199 then, though) and was very happy with their service - delivery took 5 days through FedEx home delivery. You can see the bundle here http://www.hallmarkscrapbook.com/cricut-machine-bundle-379-value-p-1787.html?cPath=58_60 Sorry - I just noticed the bundle you posted came with a tool kit - this one doesn't, so depending on the value of the tool kit, that might be a better deal.

It is very easy to use - I borrowed a friends for a few days to try it out and there really wasn't a learning curve - it was so easy and I just love having one now. I think the Disney carts take a little more time to learn, but once you get the hang of it, it's a snap.

:goodvibes

I love my cricut.:thumbsup2

The prices of them are coming down so if you want it for your birthday, you may want to wait until then to see what the package price is.
Personally I think you could buy the pieces separately when on sale and get a better deal.

check out the cricut web site to look at the various carts to see what would be of interest to you. You can click on the cart and then get a link for the handbook. The shape cart sound like they are more for you than the fonts.

Thanks everyone, unfortunately we don't have ACM on the west coast (I miss it though we lived in NJ a few years back and was there ALL the time).

I will keep looking around for the best deal, put my request in to DH last night,
so hope I get it for my b-day (if not before :goodvibes )

That's awesome!!! :goodvibes Congratulations - your going to love it!! (and I laughed because I had to get the two Disney carts when I ordered mine, too!!)

Congrats, you are going to LOVE it and have sooo much fun with it. He sounds like a keeper to me.

Just started scrapbooking 2 years ago and haven't gotten into Cricut...yet! In fact, I just invested in Sixxiz for the Lollipop alphabet. Bought the machine at 50% off on a clearance sale at the Sixxiz website because they are discontinuing that model, and got the alphabet at 60% off on a fantastic Michael's sale. Mainly interested in fonts so far, not shapes.

Honestly, though, I get a big kick out of making journal entries and headlines using my own computer because of the gazillions of fonts I can use for free...including a few Disney fonts! :surfweb:

Works out very nicely if I print on vellum, then run that through my Xyron. I generally create whatever I need in PowerPoint (part of the Microsoft Office Suite), often putting the text in the various pre-made shapes available in PowerPoint. I then punch or cut out my creations. Running the vellum through my Xyron ensures an even "invisible" adhesive coating and I have gotten some really cute results!

Still, I will be checking back to see how everyone feels about Cricut. My birthday IS coming up soon! :rolleyes1 LOL

Happy scrapping, ladies!
