Now that I have finally been able to book our flights for our Dec trip, I need help making a decision on accomodations. I thought I had it all figured out, but now I am considering 2 scenarios. We will have a rental car, so transportation is not an issue.
Scenario 1). Rent an offsite condo/townhouse for the entire 9 days of our trip. I have great quotes for 3 bdrms for both Regal Palms and Windsor Hills.
Pros: Not having to change resorts. Can get groceries on arrival day and sit back and relax until checkout.Kids each get their own room. Cons:Regal Palms is a little further out, and while both options are very nicely decorated, neither is elaborate, (like a resort is decorated). Believe it or not, I'm kind of turned off by just having plain mini blinds on the windows, and no curtains/drapes.
Scenario 2) I have already purchased a timeshare presentation package from Calypso Cay that includes 3 nights accomodation, (2) 2 day US/IOA tickets, and a 3 night stay in the Bahamas, including the cruise to the Bahamas on Discovery.Since I have already put out that money and have to do the Orlando portion first (for the timeshare presentation) we could just stay at Amerisuites for the first couple of days, do the timeshare tour, and then rent a 7 day stay at Bonnet Creek, Horizons, Cypress Harbour or the like. Pros: A little closer to the attractions, and extravagant resort theming.Amerisuites offers free breakfast, and has mini golf for the kids, etc. The timeshare package if for 3 nights, but we would only stay for 2 before checking in elsewhere. Because we've already paid for the 3rd day anyway, we could keep the room as late as we want on the second day,(like check out after we've already checked in at new resort) and not have to worry about storing food/luggage in the car all day til check in (make sense?).Cons: Having to change resorts part way through our stay. Only 2 bdrm accomodations, so although kids would each have their own bed, they would still share the 2nd bdrm.
On the surface, staying in one place makes more sense, but there is an arguement to be had for getting this already purchased timeshare presentation out of the way so that we could use the Bahama's portion when ever we feel like it.
Any thoughts or opinions? Kids are DD(12) and DS(10).
