Hi all!
I've been lurking on these boards for a long time and thought it was about time to say hello. I've been trying to convince my dh that we should go to disneyworld in November for our 25th anniversary. He said it would be wierd to go without the kids, who are 20 and 14. I say it's about time we did something without the kids! I guess the 20 year old isn't really a kid anymore, but she's in college and still counting on us for her major support. Anyway I'm rambling! The kids think we should go for it, I just need to convince HIM! HELP!

Tell your DH that there are tons of people that go without kids. Some do not have them and go, some have them and just want to go without them. We will be at WDW in September for our 21st anniversary. No kids. Think of all the adult things you can do without them. :rolleyes1

My wife and I spent our 25th anniversary at WDW.....and the teenagers stayed home. Well, one was at college, the other stayed home.
We did the four-day resort stay combined with a three-day Disney cruise.
It was almost 3 years ago and we had an absolutely fantastic time.

We got some blank stares from people when we told them we were going to Disney for our 25th, by ourselves. We always chuckled about it.

Her and I are heading down there again this October, just the two of us, to catch the PGA golf tournament at WDW and spend a few days in the parks.

Disney can be a very romantic setting. There is so much to do for adults, many quiet spots to enjoy, a myriad of restaurants, and top notch accomodations. What else could you ask for?

It's a shame so many people associate Disney only with rides and fictional characters.

do you enjoy wine by any chance....

does he....

then I would get some information on the food/wine festavial at Epcot and put it so he can see it...

now it doesn't matter if your anniversary is later - I would go with out kids to WDW for the food/wine festavial...

now if he doesn't enjoy wine or food from other countries....then what does he like - golf, fishing, boating, swimming, tennis, basketball, volleyball, etc...

then cater to his needs/wants....

promise to spend time at WWoS, or let him do the race car (this is close to the MK)

We've been going to WDW for years without our DSs, and are planning to celebrate our 25th anniversart at WDW next year. Actually, we've known for years we were going to celebrate our 25th at the World, and when I timidly asked, "You know, maybe you'd rather go somewhere else than WDW for our anniversary" DH looked at me like I'd gone crazy! I'm the Disney nut in the family, but I think DH just keeps it well hidden that he is too. BTW, I love your screen name, golfknut-that describes what DH is really nuts about.
So ritilag, tell your DH to "go for it!" As shocked as he may be, perhaps your kids would like a few days "vacation" from you. And he won't be the only one celebrating his 25th Anniversary there, I'll bet.

My DH and I are heading to WDW in Sept for our 25th anniversary. We never went on a honeymoon and thought better late than never. disney was always the place of choice. Where else could you go and have so much romance and fun. We are eating at the best places. Going to places our children never wanted to go. And doing things the kids didn't like. I do feel quilty leaving the kids behind as we still have 3 at home (19, 10, 7) but they will get over it. This time is for us to reconect and remember why we married in the first place. I hope this helps convince him that he would never regret spending time with you at WDW.

We just celebrated 40 years since the day we met with a 5 night stay at WDW! This was just for the 2 of us. In 2 years we're considering a vow renewal and we'll invite guests.

Bobbi :lovestruc

It is nice to cater to each other for a change instead of the kids I look at DW with diferent eyes without them, and i like what i see! :woohoo:

We had planned to spend our 15th as an ALONE trip but then hubby lost job. Obviuosly feeding the kids and getting ready to put 2 kids thru school took front place. Rotten kids -- we went on a delayed honeymoon when i was preggers with 1st and spent most time feeling ill. Next time we went was just before he turned 2 (free airfare) and on the PLANE i started cramping and we thought i was gonna loose his sister. Heck we figured paid for a week we're staying even if we're sad. Next trip 7 years ago it took our daughter (who survived the previous trip afterall) until the 8th day of a 10 day hoilday to enjoy herself. You know stomping her feet, pouting, I don't wanna eat that, sleep there, swim in that pool, see the Mouse and on & on & on. BTW she was 10 at the time and kept telling us I AM NOT WHINING.
So now we are saving our pennies and we will be putting two kids thru school when we go BUT i have had to tell hubby that we deserve it. Time to go to a place we enjoy and actually do the stuff we want to. huhm might even get to eat food that doesn't come with a plastic toy.

Went to Hawaii for our honeymoon, but if given a choice to go again for our 25th(Oct. 2007), we would choose Epcot. Took first trip w/o kids Feb '05, and enjoyed it so much, we did the same in October. Epcot and World Showcase are so different when you don't have to worry about entertaining the kids. In our 10 days there in 2005, we spent all of our time at Epcot except for one morning at MK.
F&W festival is great! British Invasion, Offkilter, MoRockin, Eat to the Beat, or just sit, sip a drink and relax. Surprised DW with a one night trip for her birthday in December. If the Candlelight Processional doesn't get you in the mood for Christmas, not to mention the decorations, nothing will. Both kids will be at UW-Madison this fall, so we'll be back again in October. Now we're in the process of buying DVC BWV resale.

Disney trip weird without kids? That's a good one!!

We spent our 25th at WDW. WDW has always been the favorite vacation spot of our children (now 24 and 28) In fact we will all be spending Thanksgiving in the world. However, my husband and I have been twice by ourselves and I have just one word for it........wonderful!!!! Just think...you get to pick all of the restaurants....you can linger over a glass of wine in France......there are alot of romantic opportunities....we had a marvelous time. Of course we both love WDW....that might make a difference.

my dw and i spent our 25th at wdw and disney cruise. we also did our 30th there and had a blast. always loved taking the kids and now its our time.

We spent our 25th at WDW...with our 2 grown DD's, their boyfriends, my parents and my nephew! We had a blast...And we just went in May without anyone else for my birthday. Disney is a blast with or without your family. It can be shaped into whatever your heart desires...loads of rides, quiet romance, hustle & bustle or getting a relaxing massage. Go for it!!! :thumbsup2

No currency exchange, no foreign language to learn (except the DISboards lingo), easy access to anything (if you stay inside the parks), weather is predictable (usually) and you can go on a budget (if you need to).

The question is not why go, the question is "why wouldn't you want to go?"

My DW and I are going on our 20th in March of 2009. I can't wait.
(And she did not even have to twist my arm to get me to say yes)

But we will go back with DS1,DS2,and DN in May of 2007. party:
