Help me choose!! Picky eaters…

We are getting very close to reservation day and we have all but one chosen. Restaurants chosen so far by the family are:

Chef Mickeys
Ohanas
Sci fi
TRex cafe
Crystal palace (breakfast)

I have yet to choose mine! Considering either a place in Epcot or a resort. No one in our group is adventurous in food - so most of animal Kingdom is out. I wondered if even Via Napoli would be out? Do they offer basic tasting food? I mean literally, one child would like on McDonald’s if she could. I can’t get her to eat much else.

Would love any thoughts or recommendations for a great place to try that offers basic food, but still feels special and maybe has one or two things for me to try besides a burger. Lol

Do y'all like barbeque? The character dinner (Whispering Forks, I think) at Wilderness Lodge was thoroughly enjoyable. Food was good and plentiful, refreshed frequently. Not a buffet which is often appreciated with kids. Character interaction was mostly "events" in which the kids (and some adults) participated and they seemed quite entertained. Our server was amazing..the table next to us had 4 kids and he handed them little brooms/dust pans and had them cleaning floors and loving it. I asked their mom if she had tried to steal him and take him home!

My mother in law is one of the pickiest adults I know, she found something to eat at Satuli Canteen in AK.

She also found things to eat at Primo Piatto and Bar Riva at Riviera. Primo Piatto is nice because while it has simple kids menu stuff, the Tuna Nicoise salad is pretty good for someone who wants something a little more adventurous (I had it 2x in one week)

Look at the menu for Yak and Yeti, it has a big variety from basic to more adventurous with lots in between. It is inside Animal Kingdom.

I agree with the suggestion for Whispering Canyon. Pretty basic bar-b-que and it has burgers on the menu. It can be a lot of fun.

Thank you!! I’ll be honest and say they don’t care for bbq, but I’ll check out the menu!

It’s not really character dining as in a Disney character will move around the dining but more like 50s Prime Time Cafe where the servers will give a little bit of attitude at you like throw your napkins on the table , give you a bunch of ketchup bottles, jumbo glass when you ask for a refill.

If you like pizza, Via Napoli should work for you. You could also consider Garden Grill in EP. Maybe even consider leaving EP through the IG (back entrance) and having a meal at Beaches and Cream at BC.

The Turf Club at Saratoga Springs has a pretty neutral menu. We've been a few times - we enjoyed all our meals and the service is always great.

I second the suggestion of Yak & Yeti. Other popular places in our family have been Garden Grill (we haven't tried dinner due to the sauces on the meats and the price), Liberty Tree Tavern, and surprisingly enough Mama Melrose--the steak was fair, the kids could get buttered pasta and we had guaranteed seats to Fantasmic.

I'm not a big buffet person, but buffets are a good place for a combination for people who want variety and try something different, and they also have the very basic "kids" section for those who want basic foods. My picky eaters always find something at Boma.

Ohana is not a good place for picky eaters. We paid for $60ish for my kid who is priced as a Disney adult to eat bread, some noodles, and the ice cream on top of the bread pudding.

It seems a large majority of restaurants throughout the parks and resorts have a basic 'kids' menu that is very similar no matter the restaurant - with things like chicken fingers/nuggets, burgers, mac-n-cheese, hot dogs, pizzas - can often be found even at more adventurous restaurants. So if the picky eaters are mostly the younger set, the adults can probably still choose restaurants with slightly more adventurous choices.

If even the adults are picky and you're really looking for general 'American' type food in the 'Fridays/Applebys/Chilis' type category, stick to the steakhouse options (Steakhouse 71, Yachtsman, Turf Club, etc), diner-style places (Fountains, Beaches N Cream, Prime Time, Sci-Fi, etc), and some of the homey-foods places which would be based on which of those types of foods your family likes (Whispering Pines & Woodys for BBQ, Via Napoli & Maria & Enzos for American Italian, Art Smith's Homecomin (southern/fried chicken), T-Rex/Rainforest for an Appleby's/Fridays dopplganger menu, of the buffet places to pick and choose (Boma, Tusker House, Crystal Palace, Park Fare, Hollywood & Vine, etc).

Most of them have a plain choice on the menu. Chef mickeys and crystal palace would be the best
