Hi everyone..new to these boards and they are wonderful!!
Keep up the good work.
OK..I thought I had my planning all set and about to book 3 nights in the DL Hotel in Oct..possibly going CClub.
My only concern was we are family, DH, DS 6 and 4 and Ds 20months who would be in a cot. It is the sleeping arrangements that bother me..thoughts of trying to pretend to be asleep for hours on end until kids sleeping as we would all be together in one room.
For the same price I could have 2 rooms in the New York or perhaps a resort suite ( don't have price yet) for more of less the same price as CC D L Hotel.
Someone said the DL Hotel is very girly??..and the price supplement is huge and not justified to compare with teh difference in New York?? MY husband thinks it's important to be right there at the park gates and I think it's important to have a decent room for 5 peeps!!
Oh help..me decide ..what would you do?? I know it's probably personal preference but when I haven't been before ( and therefore want to make it perfect!) it's hard!!
Thanks to all in advance!:cool1:

Hi winniewoo and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, posting guidelines can be found here and details regarding help on signatures here

We were used to staying in one room when DD was still classed as an infant. Reports from the CC always sound lovely as well as proximity to the park. We'd not have used the two rooms so my vote would be for CC :thumbsup2

I would stay at DLH as it looks out of this world. I am sure that the kids will be so tired after their days in the park it won't take long for them to drop off.:thumbsup2

It is a personnel decision. I only have one child so it is not something I have thought about.

There is pros and cons to both hotels.

The HNY is not that far from the park and it is located right next to the village which is great if you eat at the village in the evening. Breakfast is less hectic at the HNY than however as your are thinking about going CC that will not really be a problem as you have breakfast in the castle club lounge.

As you have young children the convenience of being able to go back to the hotel in the day easily is a plus, you can take a hours rest in your room without taking to much time out of your day with walking back to the hotel.
staying at CC you will also get VIP fast passes, afternoon tea, free soft drinks, private lift to the park gate,. I think staying at the Disneyland Hotel CC will make your first trip special.

I'd go for the CC. I reckon one room will be fine. We went when our kids were little and stayed in one room and I don't remember having any problems getting them to sleep as they were exhausted. The CC sounds wonderful if you can afford it.

Unfortunately now my 3 children are older apparently there are no rooms in the CC that can accommodate 5 and the cost of 2 rooms would be prohibitave so I think hubby and I will have to wait until they're too grown up to want to go on holiday with us and go and stay in the CC ourselves :rotfl:

Yikes!!...........you lot are so quick! OK..DLH Castle Club it is! ( I think!)...do you think the extra 'perks' are worth it first week of October..is the park likely to be quiet?

Hello winniewoo and welcome to the DIS

If I was in the same situation then I would go for the two rooms at the Hotel New York!! But lily73 made a good point about no rooms for 5 in Castle Club - so this may be a good time for you to experience it before the cost becomes totally prohibitive :)

Thanks Bexx..tell me more about the NY! Would you think twice about going back there during the day..is it really a trek ( with baby in buggy!).

this is soo funny about this thread!! i am debating myself the last few days whether to stay at DLR or NYH!! I am planning to visit DLP for the very first time in Aug before my Disney Westbound Repo cruise home and will use the DVC points to stay at the hotels. The DLR is beautiful but a big jump in points to stay there compared to NYH! but my kids are NOT impressed with the DLR pool..they liked the idea of the indoor/outdoor pool connected at NYH..is there a slide there?? i dont' mind the walk since my kids are 10 and 14 and it be kinda cool to see the sights as we are walking..

Now can someone explain the CC?? is it worth it?? Does NYH has a CC club like???

We went 4th-8th October last year and the park was quiet. We barely had any queues for any of the rides, obviously the weekend was busier but because we had arrived on the wednesday afternoon we had done all the rides many times by the weekend came! Also we stayed at the Cheyenne which is further than the HNY but even then it was only a 10 minute stroll to the parks with a buggy (our son was 21 months when we went.)

No, I wouldn't find it a problem returning to the HNY during the day. It's the closest hotel after the Disneyland and I've done the same quite happily when I've stayed at the others too - including the Cheyenne, like Tracy. Not saying I wouldn't love to try the DLH one day though!! ;)

Also, the DLH may be wonderfully located for the parks but, unless you're planning to eat in the park or at the DLH every evening, I think the HNY is closer to more dining options.

Melinda: The HNY once had a Castle Club! But not anymore. These were the rooms in the higher floors with lake view.
We stayed in such a room in January 2006. In this album

you can find 2 pictures which I took while we had a room in the 7th floor! This was the most perfect room which we ever had in any of the Disney Hotels!
Only a Castle Club room with park view in the DLH must be better than this! :thumbsup2

No there isn't a slide at the NHY pool - Sequoia Lodge is the only onsite hotel to have a slide. The HNY doesn't have Castle Club (anymore). Wish I could tell you more about the DLH CC, but I've never stayed there :sad1:

what an awesome view!!! :yay: :thumbsup2 thanks for the heads up..looks like i will stay at NYH after all..i'll request for high floor!!;)

Thanks Bexx for the slide answer..we can live without it!! no biggie!!;) just curious,,Are we allowed to pool hop??:confused3

Unfortunately not. Pools are only available for their own hotel guests.
I suspect that where pools are closed for maintenance would be the only exception :)

ok thanks!! we may barely have time to go swimming anyway!!:rolleyes1 (but i don't tell my kids that!! )

Hi Guys,

Interesting thread - I've just been trying to decide between DLH and HNY myself for a last minute weekend trip in a couple of weeks time.

I bet it's a decision lots of people come down to making.

For us, the CC option is, unfortunately, beyond our budget. I think I would love to do that one time, though. :thumbsup2

The price difference on regular rooms is not that huge - so it is a tough decision.

In terms of location, I've stayed at the cheyenne before, and that was a perfectly ok walk between the hotel and the parks, so I'm sure that HNY will be an easy walk.

In the end, I have opted for the HNY and I may try my luck and see if we can get an upgrade to a suite - no idea how much this is likely to cost for a two night stay - anyone got any idea? If it's not too much, we may upgrade purely for the vip fastpass tickets (which I understand you get with the suites).

Anyway, that's been our choice - can't wait now - we arrive on 23rd Feb!! Sooo excited ....:cheer2:

I'm afraid I have no idea what a suite costs at the HNY, though I would be interested to find out. :)

The upgrade to the suite in the HNY would cost more than the Castle Club room in the DLH!!!
I mean two nights in a suit of the HNY are more expensive than 2 nights in the CC of the DLH!

And as far as I know: If you book a suite in the DLRP it is always without park tickets! (Can anyone confirm this?)
