Please help me choose between ASMU at $52 pn. or PORR at $93 pn this includes tax. Travelling with wife, three DD under eight years and grandparents . I have ressies at both locations. We are arriving in early May,2002, 6 night stay.None of us have ever stayed on property.( TO GET TO THE POINT, IS IT WORTH THE PRICE DIFFERENCE TO UPGRADE AT THESE RATES.)

Seeing as though it's your first stay on property, I'd go with the All Stars (I'm assuming you're booking 2 rooms). We stayed there for our first on-site visit and we really enjoyed it...I'd stay there again.

IMHO, yes. The AS are noisier. The rooms are smaller. The food courts are more crowded. There are more recreational activities at the moderates.

Where are you finding the POR at $93 a nite with taxes? I gave several codes, and ours is $94 without tax (because we took the one where for $1 more you could get mini golf). I had a post cards amex, dc, and codes form mousesavers. Just curious.

It's a hard decision! Where I stay when I go always relates to my pocket. My last
trip I got some great rates and am earning more money so I moved up to POR and
even got a good enough rate to spend two days at AKL. If the money is not that big
of a concern I would definitely go for POR. It's my favorite now! All Stars are very
large resorts and can be very crowded at peak times. POR consist of smaller
buildings spread around a large resort and feels more secluded and less hectic. For
the group you have going with you I think that there should be something for
everyone at POR. The is a fishing hole and a pool with a slide for the kids, there are
lots of places to just sit and take in the surroundings along the river and at other
places if the grandparents want a less hectic pace. There is the boat ride to
Downtown Disney, you could leave the kids with the grandparents and take your
wife to Pleasure Island. I thought the All Stars were great until I stayed at POR now
I don't think I'll ever stay at the Stars again now that I've have a taste of the better
resorts that Disney has to offer. It's a hard call. Good Luck on your decision. Have
A Magical Vacation!

The All Stars just don't appeal to us at all. Very noisy, very small rooms, only one sink in a room---kitchy, in my opinion!

We love PO-R. It is classy, well landscaped, the pool is very nice, quieter, and the rooms are bigger. To me, there is no choice, but then again, it is your vacation, so the decision is ultimately up to you!

I too am curious how you got such great rates for both the All Stars and PORR. Could you please let us know? I am going in May and the best rates I have gotten are almost $78.00 at All Stars and $94.00 at CBR they both include tax. Thanks!

I've stayed at both and POR is definitely my favorite! Yes, there is a $40 difference, but you will get SO much more! POR has 6 pools, ASMu has 2. POR has a food court and sit down restaurant, ASMu has a food court. POR has a huge store, ASMu's store is nice but much smaller. POR has boat and bike rentals, ASMu does not. POR has a beautiful landscaped property with lots of walking paths, friendly ducks, a playground and a fishin' hole where your daughters can fish for fun. POR has a small playground. POR has the boat to Downtown Disney - a definite plus and a fun trip! AS resorts share the same bus mostly. If there are lots of folks getting on at ASSp then you will stand on the bus. POR is a little more centrally located. ASMu is close to AK, but a fair "ride" to MK. For your family, if all 3 girls are staying with you, you will get a bayou room which sleeps 5. The bayou buildings are small and intimate, ASMu buildings are huge and very motel like. POR's mansion and bayou rooms have character. ASMu tends to be "full" of kids. We found many teens running up and down the halls at all hours. POR is quiet and peaceful.

One caveat, regardless of which resort you pick, you will have a magical stay! Enjoy!!

This is a no brainer.... POR ( Dixie Landings) is your best choice . Better pool for the kids. Excellent food court. The grounds are beautiful. Ask for Building # 27 , real close to everything . It is also a non-smoking if you are interested . I have read on the boards that the boat to DTD has started back up. This is a must ride to and from POR. The kids will love it.

I've stayed at both and would not blink-just rush to POR! I went to ASMu thinking I might like it-got the Jazz building which I'd requested because DS is majoring in jazz (there's one for you-did you know you could major in Jazz? Me either, but..)
Well, I missed POR sooo much! It's so pretty there, restful, and for only $93! It's better than ASMu at any price difference!

I agree with going with POR. We just love that resort. The boat to DD is great. We rode it at times just for a relaxing ride. The girls will love the pool and the slide. The adults will enjoy the hot tub while watching the girls at the pool. The grandparents can have their own room because as already stated the bayou rooms can accommodate 5. It is a charming resort and I found it relaxing. I enjoyed having a choice betweent the main pool and the quiet pool. My daughter loved seeing the ducks along the river's edge. Between the bikes, fishing, marina - there are many recreational choices. If possible, go for POR.

My vote for POR. If money is not an issue, I would definitely go for the moderate. You will not be dissapointed and will find that it was worth the extra $.

Another vote for POR. Its a beautiful resort, has a nice, large pool. The food court is out of this world, too!

The nice thing about POR is that if you are going to DTD at all, the boat is a nice quick way to get their.

Yet another vote for Port Orleans Riverside ( though it will always be Dixie Landings in my heart ) ! I stayed in the AS Sports once, after two previous stays at Dixie - there was simply no comparison. When we have stayed at Dixie we never felt the need to rush out and visit the parks - there was plenty to do there at the resort if we wanted to "stay-in" and relax. On my one stay at the All-Stars as soon as I had cleaned and eaten I left the resort - there was nothing else to do ! I actually ended up visiting Dixie several times during the trip just for that "at-home" feeling :D .

POR!!! :D

We are staying there in less than a week and like the fact that it is so beautiful, there are so many quiet pools, the food court and restaurant serve good food and the boat to DD.

We are looking forward to spending some down time relaxing at our "home" resort when we are not at the parks. The pictures and reviews we have read about the AS resorts convinced us that the extra $$$ was well worth it. If it were up to my DH, we would stay at the AS because to him a room is just "somewhere to sleep."

Since I'm paying for the trip, we get to go where mom (and DD) want to go. :D Hey, it was fair! We voted!

I also would like to know how you got a $52 price for ASMU in May. My wife and I are going in May and the best I have seen is $69 for AS so I went with POR for $84 a night. I figured for $15 more a night we could stay at a moderate. I used the Florida resident code on mousesavers.

And I want to know how you got the $84 for POR, LOL..the cheapest we could find was $93 plus tax ! (We're going May 8)
