Help me choose a signature restaurant

Hoop Dee Doo Revue! It's not just a great meal, it's an evening of entertainment.

California Grill! Remember you can come back and watch the fire works the night you fine there. Brunch is fabulous there if you prefer to do that.

Since you're staying at BLT, CA Grill is low effort, which is good with two kids. It was my son's first signature and the one nearest and dearest to his heart... we always go back (he is 10 now). They take great care of him there and always make us feel special. I love the food there too. I read mediocre reviews and then I go back and have a stellar meal every time.

Hoop Dee Doo has the added advantage of being a nice direct boat ride away from the Contemporary. My son always enjoyed boat rides. :)

Citricos is our favorite Signature. Tiffins is a new contender :)
We didnt love Jiko but it was good and our last CG meal (in 2016) was so-so.
Tried Narcoosees this March after having it about 8 years ago and we still think Citricos is much better. But Citricos is quieter, and with fewer kids.

We only visit five TS eateries at WDW when we go there for an actual meal.
.
1) We prefer
. . . fine food
. . . excellent, top notch service
. . . innovative dishes with flair and quality
. . . overall great value
. . . relaxed and soothing dining atmosphere
. . . behaved and somewhat quiet patrons
.
2) The only sit-down restaurants we routinely visit,
. . . Sanaa - Animal Kingdom Villas Resort (one of my personal favs)
. . . Turf Club - Saratoga Springs
. . . Citricos - Grand Floridian Resort
. . . Shula's Steakhouse - Dolphin Resort (no DDP)
. . . Il Mulino - Swan Resort (no DDP)
.
3) Our (nearby) off-site Recommendations:
. . . Bull & Bear - Waldorf Astoria Bonnet Creek - Fine Dining
. . . Café D'Antonio - Celebration - Casual Italian
. . . Columbia - Celebration - Casual Spanish/Cuban
. . . Fish Bones - Hwy192 - Seafood
. . . Venetian Room - Caribe Royale Hotel - Fine Dining
. . . The Hotel Tea Room - Davenport, FL - Casual - Friday Steak-Fry, Afternoon Tea

I think it is more fun to choose places your kids can relax and be kids and you won't feel anxious that their fatigue will make things uncomfortable. Ohana, be our guest, cinderella's castle, hoop de doo are 3 places where kids are allowed to be kids.

Listen to this human :). He is likely the BEST EXPERT on real, serious, WDW Dining...

Having said that? Dear wife and I oddly found Bull and Bear over salty, and inferior to Shula's :). I plan on getting negative feedback :). Yup, we will try them again.... could have been an off-night :).

But for GOD's sake, if you are serious about "best restaurants at WDW"? LISTEN to this man. PLEASE.

I have never done any of the dinner shows but if I had 2 credits to use up I might consider them. Otherwise, Tiffins is my favorite restaurant right now signature or otherwise. Great food and service and lots of fun things to look at for the kids and stories to hear from the servers. The first time we dined here we sat in the room dedicated to animal conservation near the totem poles and my son spent a good amount of time identifying as many animals as he could. They have a carved wooden map of the world as well with hidden castles.

And when I dined here again just this spring they gave me chocolates and a card as a thank you for returning. It was a nice touch.

This is why this subject is...well...subjective. I don't think Jiko is a kid joint. Just didn't scream "bring kids" to me.

It's not really a kids' restaurant, but we did not feel out of place with our 4 and 7 year old last year. The waiter even brought a phone to the table so that Goofy could wish my son a happy birthday.

That said, we love both BOG (at least the old menu) and CRT, but it sounds like we've had better luck with service than OP. All three (Jiko, BOG, CRT) made our list of restaurants to return to on our next trip.

We have been to CG, Citrico’s, Hoop Dee Doo, Flying Fish, and a few at the Swan that aren’t on the dining plan. My kids were 6 and 8 last trip and when I asked them what restaurants they wanted to go back to this trip the first thing out of both of their mouths and my husbands was Morimoto Asia! We have been 4 times now and it never disappoints! Last trip we canceled an Ohana Ana went back there again! Lol My boys didn’t care for Hoop Dee Doo review they said the food was gross lol!

My kids have loved getting more nicely dressed for Jiko, and then visiting the viewing areas and seeing the animals. There are always children there, generally well-behaved.
