We've stayed at Figi and Tuvalu at Poly before and DH suggested we stay to the right of the GCH now . . .

At this time I am only booking a Garden View Room because we are going during Peak Season in April and we'll most likely be paying rack rates . . .

I've broken it down to the following:

Samoa
Tahiti
Tokelau

Which one is the best choice for a garden view room?

Anyone know if those longhouses will still be under construction in April 06?

I think it is a safe assumption that refurb's will still be going on in April 2006, but there's no telling which longhouse they will be working on at that time. It sounds like the refurb schedules for even the immediate future are changing all the time. Given that it will be peak season and the resort will have fewer than normal rooms available, I think the best bet would be to list all 3 on your request to give you a higher likelihood of getting it met. We stayed in Samoa in June, and I didn't feel like it was a long walk to any point on the property (especially after getting used to the size of the parks), so I don't think you could go wrong with any of the longhouses on your list.

We stayed in the Tokelau building this past May and it was a great choice! We were close to just about everything and the views weren't shabby - for a Garden View room. I would choose it again in a second! :sunny:

I think any of those are good choices.

Tell me how you liked Fiji? I'm thinking of requesting it.

Please tell because this is the location I want to be in.

We stayed in Fiji 2 nights after our Wonder Cruise in April. I received really good info from the DIS on what to request.

I requested 3rd Floor facing Marina . . .OMG, what a GREAT room! The room was HUGE! I'm trying to remember the room # . . .if you were to leave the GCH and face Figi it was the 2nd room to the right on the 3rd floor. For a gardenview room we thought it was wonderful! We saw the Contemporary and Space Mountain from the far left of our balcony (which, by the way, seemed like a double balcony)

It really seemed much bigger than our room in Tuvalu. It did need some updating though . . .The only downfall was it was right across the hall from the elevator and some times in the wee early morning hours you heard people.

I'd request the same location again, but DH thinks we should head more towards the TTC this time . . . :confused3 He likes change . . . :rolleyes1 :teeth:

My family loved Tahiti. It was quiet and close to the TTC, which helped with transportation options. The view was great, and you could walk around to the beach side of the building and have a great view of MK and the fireworks.

We loved Samoa. We faced the Volcano pool and to the right was the water with the GF and the monorail. We thought it was a great room! Close to Captain Hooks and the GCH.

If I were you, I would put in a request for either X longhouse or Y longhouse so in the event that you request only 1 and it's not available, then you have a back up and you're not totally disappointed at front desk... heck - ask for all 3!

Not that I'm saying you will be disappointed, but better safe than sorry and complaining later because a request is just a request - not a guarantee!

There is no set schedule on the renovations either for the long houses. The only one on the books with dates is Hawaii (September - October of this year) and if I'm not mistaken, I believe they are in the middle of doing one at the moment.

We were in Tokelau in May (garden view side, not quiet pool) and had a very nice room and location. It took maybe a very slow paced 3-4 minute walk to Captain Cooks to refill mugs and about the same to the pool, if that! It was about 5-10 minute walk from the TTC along the pathway. And about a minute to the quiet pool. I'd this is the best spot to be - plus it has balconies on the 2nd and 3rd floor.

Good luck deciding!

We stayed at Rapanui(spelling?? ) as they have double sinks and taking the express MK monorail from the ticket/transportation was so convenient. I think this is the best kept secret of the poly, using those monorails rather than the poly monorail.
