Help me choose a Fantasmic! restaurant

So I'm really unsure about what to do re: my dining reservation for the Fantasmic! package. I already booked Hollywood & Vine, because Hollywood Brown Derby doesn't appeal to us since my friend and I are from LA (my friend actually lives right in the Hollywood Hills), so spending $40 each on a Hollywood-themed meal isn't worth it for us. I would LOVE to do Mama Melrose since I love Italian food, but my friend doesn't like Italian. She agreed to do one Italian restaurant for me (Alfredo's), but I don't feel right dragging her to two. I've been reading some really terrible reviews about Hollywood & Vine on this board, so my question is: Is H & V THAT bad that we should spend $40 on Brown Derby or do Mama Melrose and then cancel Alfredo's? If the food is ok and not spectacular, that's fine. But if it's made a lot of you sick, as it seems from a previous thread about H & V, then I will definitely cancel it. Please help me decide! Thank you so much!!

Is 50's prime time on the fantasmic list? If so, you could go there. Not exactly fine dinning, but fun, and not Italian. If not, maybe look at Allears.net and look at the menu for Mamma Melrose, and see if there is something she would like. The Italian there is different from usual Italian resturants. Take a look, she might find something she likes. :teeth:

If you don't want to dpo HBD and MM is out that only leave H&V, so you mayas well make the most of it :)

I dont know what to do either. We went to H&V last Oct and it was perfect for us - we like buffets because they appeal to such a broad taste of our group! I can have my choice and eat when I'm ready , I love shrimp and can have as much as I want...

I'm doubting H&V because of the desserts - they were terrible, but dd loved the ice cream toppings!!

and I'm doubting because maybe we should try something different!! but I dont like the way MM has their fantasmic meal menu!! I would prefer to pick from their usual menu - then I would sign up for MM - -

did you check the search engine for MM - it seems they do salad family style, a flatbread, and then the entree I could find was chicken parmesean, maybe someone else will post what the other 3 entrees are for MM and Fantasmic...

We did the Fantasmic dinner a few weeks ago at Brown Derby and have nothing but great things to say about the place. The location is great, the service and food were fantastic, and it felt like we were in a nice restaurant and not in a theme park. They let you order from the entire menu -- you can check the menu out on the web. Brown Derby is one of our favorite places to eat in at WDW.

We did the MM fantasmic meal last summer and there were a lot of entrees to choose from -- I had the steak which was really good, there were also a couple of pasta dishes, salmon and other things I can't remember. I wouldn't be suprised if the list included all of the entrees from the main menu. Given that the steak is one of the most expensive items on the menu, it would make sense to me that they had all the less expensive ones as well.
