Hi all,

My family is taking a friend to Disney World next month to celebrate the "end" of her chemo treatments for colon cancer.

I would love to make this trip magical for her! We are getting a suite at AoA for 5 nights with the dining plan. Does anyone else have ideas? I don't know if it would be worth mentioning to the concierge?

Thanks for your input!

Definitely get her a "Celebration Button"(available at AoA Front Desk).:)

And WELCOME TO THE DIS!

Does she know you all are taking her or is it a surprise!? If it is a surprise, give her small gifts to open up that hint towards ' Disney'. If she knows, maybe make her a 'Disney' gift basket with a tshirt, Mickey ears, and perhaps make a reservation somewhere special she might want to eat....Be Our Guest, Cinderella's Royal Table etc. Or even a dessert party to celebrate and watch fireworks.

This is SO exciting, Congratulations to your friend for beating and staying strong throughout her treatment! And I hope no matter where you take her/ what you all do, that you have a great trip. Good wishes for loads of good health in the future :)

First off congrats to you both! Such a journey for all that are involved. I would definitely tell all din8ng reservations, front desk at check in etc. Have a great trip!

I think this is an amazing trip idea! I wish you all the best. I would try to have dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. It is magical. If your friend wouldn't mind, you can get cute (even personalized) shirts on etsy.

I love stephk1981's ideas!!! Dessert/ fireworks party.

Congrats to her! Has she been to Disney before? Have you looked into any of the behind the scenes tours? How about a character meal?

Check out the cake chatter thread for ordering a special dessert surprise for her. I saw one on there recently about celebrating the end of chemo.

Heather,

You and your family are magical! I finished chemo and a very rigorous surgery in March. Guess where my first trip was?? My husband thought a dose of Disney was exactly what I needed he was right. And as I was getting ready to celebrate my birthday in July, an email arrives from Disney with details about the Fall into Magic package, so we are headed back in September!! I surround myself with happy!

Yes when you check in mention it to the CM. The CM at guest services commented on my wig, so I told her I was a recent survivor and this was a celebration of health trip. She left and came back with a small surprise, it didn’t matter what it was, her genuine kindness was all that mattered to me. Magic is alive and well, May your trip provide plenty of it for your friend and your generous and kind family!!

Sending you love! Happy you are healing. I'm happy that Disney helped!!!

Not trying to be a "DOWNER:)",but after telling the FD,something may or MAY NOT happen-no guarantees.:)

This. Ditto any place you tell. There are at minimum hundreds of people celebrating something every day at Disney - they can't do something for everyone.

Will magical things happen? They might.

But if you 100% want something magical to happen, YOU need to orchestrate it. One of the in-room celebration packages or the like would be nice.
