Help Me Buy a TBall Glove

DD6 does pretty much everything left-handed. But when I asked her to pretend to throw a ball, her first instinct was to throw it right-handed.

So what kind of glove would you suggest I get her?

My ds7 writes and eats left-handed but throws and bats right handed.

Best thing to do is practice throwing a tennis ball around for a bit (no mitt) and see which hand they use more than the other. One will ultimately be more comfortable.

Agree you just have to practice and see. Have them throw the ball with both arms and see which looks more natural or which arm they consistently throw with on their own. Both my DD's are left handed, throw left handed but for the first year of Tball they batted both left and right. The next year they figured out which one was more comfortable. One bats left one bats right.

My son is right-handed but does most 'sports' related things left handed. Hockey, golf, batting, bowling. However, he does THROW righ handed. Weird. He tried one year left handed but he was just better throwing right.
I agree that you should just test it out for awhile. If she's 6years then she's thrown a ball around before, no?

Thanks for the thoughts, everyone. I think I will have to do some practice with her and see. She's never been interested in sports, so no, she doesn't really throw balls other than the giant ones you throw and catch with both hands. So yes, this should be interesting...

Well, if you plan on taking her Pro in 14 years or so .... left handed Pitchers have more value.

Teach her to switch hit too.

HA! My DH says the same thing. My DS5 does the same thing as the OP's DD. Even his preschool teachers have said one hand is not more dominant than the other.

Just play catch with her in the yard a bit and see which she favors. Dominance for writing/fine motor skills isn't always the same as for throwing or batting. My son is right handed but throws and bats lefty and it took us about half a season to figure it out; he really struggled until we got the right mitt and let him do his southpaw thing.

We discovered our lefty prefers to throw right just HOURS after buying her a lefty glove

Oh, 5 Below had a ton of nice kids lefty gloves last time we were there.

This is how my daughter is. She writes righty and bats righty but throws lefty, plays soccer with a dominant left foot, basketball is lefty.

I'm sure she would have been a lefty had her preschool not always put the crayon in her right hand. She can write legibly with both hands

Practice with a real ball first.

My daughter had a left and right glove her first year. She writes with her left but now throws with her right, bats left. There really is not a dominate hand.
