Help Me Buy a Steam Mop, Please

I'm so confused! I really want one, but I don't know if I would be wasting my money.

Can anyone recommend one they absolutely love?

I have a high traffic kitchen, mud room area. My side door entrance of the house enters into the mud room and there is also a garage door entrance in the same area with the bathroom entrance just off the kitchen. Everything located in the same area. The tile runs through the mud room hall, bathroom and kitchen.

So to take off your shoes to run into the bathroom and out again is just well, never going to happen here.

Even will all the rugs I put down to wipe your feet, my porcelain tile is looking pretty bad these days and I was looking for a steam mop that I can whip out and run over the tile quickly at the end of the night, but I want one that will do a decent job. I'm so tired of getting on my hands and knees. Its a pretty big area.

Help me buy a steam mop, please, because replacing your family is never going to happen.

I have a green bissell one and love it! I went to buy the shark but when I got there they were all out (I thought), the employee working there told me they no longer were carrying them (or any other shark products) because of problems. He didn't elaborate so no idea what that means.

I love my Shark. Using a 20% coupom at Bed Bath and Beyond seens to be the best deal I have figured out. I noticed they have a Deluxe model now which seems like overkill, but the extra pads (it comes w/ 5 instead of 2) actually makes it the best buy in the long run (though the pads last a very long time).

I have a Shark steam mop that I absolutely love. I got it at Sam's Club for $80, but it also came with the handheld Shark steamer for other cleaning (which I'm not that crazy about). If I had it to do over, I would have gotten it at Costco, they had the mop with 5 pads for $70 (maybe BBB is better, I didn't look there).

The Sharp mop heats up very quickly, and I was horrified by the dirt it got up. It's fabulous for hardwood floors--it barely gets them damp so no worries about damage.

My only complaint is that the pads don't clean grout very well. It'll loosen up anything that's stuck on, but I still find myself having to bend over and work on it. The tiles come out beautifully, though.

I have a bad back, but I can use the steam mop without a problem so that alone gives it a huge advantage over traditional mops for me.

I used to have a green bissel but it broke after a year. I really did like it but couldn't find a replacement in stores here so I bought a Shark. DO NOT like the Shark at all. It doesn't clean as well as the Bissell. I will be looking online for a better steam mop to replace the Shark.

I have the Shark (got it based on a friend's rec.) and it's great on my tile and wood laminate floors. I got mine at BBB with a 20% coupon, so I got the "deluxe" blue one with five pads and the carpet attachment. Total was $80. Honestly, it doesn't seem to do anything for my carpet, but it's great for my kitchen and bathroom. Heck, I even used it once on my kids' kitchen table and chairs! I just steamed the top of their little table and all that dried food came off

I also like that it's just steam; no special cleaning liquids to buy. I am trying to make an effort to use less chemicals in my household cleaning.

I just got a Shark from Costco but its still in the box. Just waiting for my floors to get dirty so I have something to report next time.

I got the blue Bissell from HSN. I read a lot of reviews about the shark breaking and most reviewers seemed to think the Bissell was better, so I decided to go that route. I think the bissell's head completely moves in every direction and the Shark does not, but I could be wrong. It came with two pads, carpet attachment, and a hook to hang it on. It is light weight and cleans very well, I'll never be able to go back to a dirty mop! I think it was around $80, it was just a month or so ago. They also had a lavender one, but it sold out when I was buying. Good luck, I think they're great! By the way, I checked the price recently and they had free shipping at that time, which they didn't when I ordered.

Can these steam mops be used on vinyl floors? I currently use a Swiffer Wet, but never feel like the floor is very clean- my white socks are always still dirty after walking on it. We have a crawling infant, so I would love to keep the floors cleaner without have to crawl around myself with a sponge. Now, if only I could figure out a way to attach the sponges to his knees...

I have a shark and I got it before christmas...used it three times and love it. I use distilled water in it. We got it a Costco. The bissel one was on sale at Walmart on BF for 60 but I forgot to get it at the time so I settled for the shark so far no problems and it does clean...I have a white floor and my kitchen is huge. I wish I had seen the deluxe model...it has some sort of a rug glide for cleaning rugs. My mom got it at KHols she had a 30% coupon and it ended up being the same price as the one at Costco. I think she got 5 pads too. The pads cost like 6 each so having 5 is a savings.

I have a Shark and love it!

A friend had given me their H2O model when they moved and I liked that too. It was about 2 years old and just bit the dust. I bought the Shark at Bed, Bath & Beyond with a coupon. I got the deluxe because it came with 5 pads and came out about $5. cheaper than buying extra pads.

My entire house is hardwood, laminate and tile. It took forever on my hands and knees.

The steam is so much easier and no chemicals at all, just water.

When you figure out how much swifter wet refills, the pads, other cleaning products, etc. it is really cheap to just use water. It has to be safer for my grandkids playing on the floor.

It dries almost instantly and my floors are never streaked, which I love.

Can't say enough good about it.

I don't feel it is heavy, but then again I am not really lifting it. I keep it in my laundry room right next to the kitchen. I have laminate kitchen floors and wood in the entry way. I have also used it on the wood kitchen table to see what it would do!

I think I paid $60 for it at Linen's N Things with a coupon. It came with 2 pads. I don't think I'll have to replace the pads often at all.

Just fill and go, warms up within 30 seconds. I just use tap water although you can use distilled also.

Here's my question - where does the dirt go?

I had a steam cleaner several years ago - it did great at getting the dirt loose - but then just swirled the dirt around. I have two dogs and a dog door - my floors get dirty.

I love my Hoover Floormate - it has brushes that turn and then it sucks the dirty water up like a carpet cleaner. I usually just use hot water - or sometimes vinegar. My floors are really clean when I am finished.

Now I'm more confused then ever. Bissell, shark, Hoover Floormate, what to do, what to do

I went out to day to look at them all. Saw the shark at BBB, to me it looked like it would break in a heartbeat. Saw the Hoover Floormate at Sears and it was heavy and felt so hard to move around. Never did find the Bissell. Still looking.
