Hello,
Someone on the Community Board suggested you guys might be able to help me.
here's my original post:
My siblings and I are sending my parents to the Grand Floridian for two days to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. We have dinner at the castle and a private dining experience already set up for them, but I'm looking for a little something more and I'm stumped.
I'd like to greet them with a gift box/basket, but I'm not sure what to put in it. I'm going to have bride and groom ears with 50 years embroidered, but other than that, I'm at a loss.
We're also getting them a cake for their private dining, but I'm struggling finding an example of what I'm looking for. We could always go with the basic white fondant with gold mickey heads stamped on it, but somehow that doesn't feel celebratory enough. I want a cake that screams "Celebration!!!". I'm thinking two layers (there's 9 other family members joining us the next day, so the cake won't go to waste). I love the mad hatter type cakes, but my parents are a bit more traditional. I just don't seem to be able to find anything that catches my eye.
Does anyone have suggestions either for the box or the cake? I'm open to anything since I'm totally drawing a blank!!
Thanks for your help!
There was a great suggestion of trying to recreate their cake, but unfortunately my parents eloped and there were no pictures and no one present other than the preacher and his wife (both are now deceased). There was also a suggestion of a by the decades picture book (great idea!)
Can anyone offer anything else? My parents are non-drinkers (too much medicine! but unfortunately that means no bottle of champagne). My mom, particularly does love Disney and they've been to Disney World probably 40 times since 1971, so I'm looking for something to wow them. Hard to do when they know the place inside out!
Thanks for amything you can offer!
