We are thinking of planning atrip to WDW for this March.

We have been 3 times in the past 4 years, not been there for the last 2 years.

We have passes for myself and older son.. my daughter will need a pass (she will be 4), the baby is fine.

We are driving down. hoping to head over to Tampa to see DH's grandparents.

I wanted to get a room, and do the dinning, but understand thats not possibl esince we aren't getting passes.

I got a PIN for Kids 3–9
stay, play and dine
for FREE
when you purchase this 5-Night/6-Day vacation package that includes room, Theme Park tickets and Disney Dining Plan.

Its quoting like $794 a night for a value resort (would prefer a moderate),per adult.

What do you think is the best deal?

Actually, you can get the dining plan without getting tickets. It is called the passholder + dine package. It is room plus DDP, no tickets, and is considered a package in terms of deposit and cancellation policies. And even better, if your dates are available with a passholder room discount, you can get the room discount and still add the dining plan. (I have done this before) Good luck!

Since when can you get dining without the tickets? I don't have tickets yet but I was going to get them from work at a discount but thought I had to get tickets to get dining. I have a room only ressie right now and as soon as I get my taxes back I am going to add dining.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. It is a package for annual passholders only. Since AP holders already have tickets, Disney designed a new package about a year ago for those of us who like to have the DDP but do not need to purchase tickets with our packages.

Edited to add: I assumed since the OP said she and her son have "passes" that she was referring to annual passes... if not, disregard my advice.
