OK, help me out. What movie maker program do you use. Our next trip will be our 20th trip and every year I dream of putting one together. Well this is the year so help me preplan for our upcoming trip so when I return this will be easy as pie.
I love watching YouTube videos of other families so I have so many great ideas. When I see clips in the videos, are people just taking lots of clips or do we just shoot away and then edit to just what we need. Would love a Dummies Guide to Making a WDW family video or hear/see any of your ideas, song tips, location tips, and so on.

I'd also love to hear any info and help! I'm addicted to watching YouTube and although we do our home movie for every trip, it goes on DVD for us only lol
Now if like to do one for YouTube :)

I just made our first video!! You can check it out here:

It's not perfect but i worked with what I had. I came up with a playlist of songs before the trip, some high energy, dancing type songs, some slower for those magic emotional moments, and some Disney ones!

As for filming, I did originally make a list of things to film, some dancing, bits of parades/shows & such.

Then certain situations just popped up & I knew I had to video, like Anne getting her birthday song while she got pixie dusted.

My advice is to film a lot, dont feel pressured to always be behind the camera though! In the end i came out with not a lot of video that had US in it, so I was sure to put pictures in to fill it up!

I love watching the YouTube videos and fully intend on making a video for our trip coming up. I have a Mac and evidently there is a great video program on it. I've never used it but I think I will learn how to use it and try that.

What a great job:) What program did you use to put the video together?

Perfect, so film lots of short videos sounds like the way to go. Loved all the photos moving at the pace of the music.

My advice is to film lots... then you'll have more to choose from when you return home! Also, you really only need a few seconds of each event. You really need to edit your footage down to the very best stuff to make it entertaining.

What software depends on how much control you want. Windows Movie Maker and iMove are actually pretty good if you just want to edit clips to music. If you want more control you might try Premiere Elements or something similar. Adobe has a free 30 day trial (as do many other publishers).

The last WDW trip video I made I used What Dreams Are Made Of from the Lizzy McGuire Movie soundtrack.

I can say, every video I have made has been with Windows Movie Maker.
The only complaint I have about it is that it does tend to freeze. But just like any other project on a computer, just make sure to save often!

These are great!

I would love to know what software you used to make them? Did the software allow you to speed up the videos like that? Too cute!!!

Also, what did you use to film your video clips? I love that you were able to get all the cute ones in the water.

Thanks :-)

I agree with Captain Cook, short clips to keep it interesting. Interspersing video with some stills (and a little zoom and pan) can mix it up. Mixing it up with signs, pamphlets, maps, etc can add interest too.

Here is one I did (very short, not Disney, a bicycle trip) that took 16 hours of video and over 200 photos condensed into 2 minutes!

That may be a bit much condensing but the idea is that a little keeps peoples interest while 20 minutes may have guests heading for the door! ;)

I used Adobe Premiere Elements with ProShow Gold. PE probably could have done it all but I am more familiar with ProShow.

This is exactly what I am wanting to do for our surprise trip next year. I want to mix video with photo clips. Can you tell us what software you used to make this?
By the way...excellent videos!!
