Can anyone please help from their experience. I have just checked the guidelines on the Virgin atlantic web site re luggage and we might have a problem. We can each have two pieces of luugage up to 32Kg with total dimensions not exceeding 158cm (62"). We will only have one case each as that is all we will be able to manage in the car and transporting it and they will all be well under the weight limit. However, having just measured we are close to the size. The basic cases are 61" in total but with the wheels on the bottom and the handle on top they are a couple of inches too big. How closely do they measure at check in, and do they include the wheels etc if they do measure. I realise i am probably worrying about nothing but I would hate to get to gatwick and be turned away but surely they can't measure every peice of luggage in case it's a few cm's too big - can they??:worried:

Thanks

Sue.. I am convinced that they will not measure your cases providing they are within the weight limit. One of our party has been to Orlando with one of those 'wheelie bin' type cases (the sort you can get discount priced at Tesco etc, with a drag handle in the side) twice without any problem (although within weight limits as packed, i could probably have climbed inside the damn thing!). :D Mike

Sue, its the weight they will worry more about rather than the size, and lets face it, unless youre checkin in a suitcase the size of of a dinner table, you'll be fine.
Weve never had any trouble, and our suitcases are BIG!

fisrtly I have to say we have never flown with Virgin.

When we flew in August, from Manchester We had 3 suitcases plus eldest DS cricket bag . All our bags were weighed & were fine but we were told it was too wide. They just stuck on a sticker & we had to check it in at a separate desk . No problem. Coming home it was fine & went with the suitcases. So I'm sure you won't have a problem.

We should have expected something when on arrival at the airport the bag was too wide on the trolley to get into the lift!!!!!

We shall use it again as cricket bags are tough & hold lots of "stuff".

Has anyone ever took their own mobility scooter on the plane?
My aunty is thinking the charge may be cheaper than the cost of hiring a scooter over there. I dont know if it will even be possible as i think it may be too heavy for them to consider.
