Hi,

My friend and I are going to DLP from Friday 6th to Monday 9th March, on a no kids trip.:yay: The eurostar tickets are booked and in hand, and the hotel is hopefully being booked on Monday with DVC points. This is a budget trip.

We want to stay at the Hotel New York, which I know nothing about, as on all my past trips we stayed at the Cheyenne, the Santa Fe and the Davy Crockett Ranch, you know the kid friendly ones.:lmao: What is the HNY like?

My friend needs coffee to function in the morning,:coffee: :scared: do the HNY rooms have coffee supplies and a kettle, or do we need to make other arrangements?
What are the breakfasts like, is it a cold buffet?
What time is breakfast served, can we go for EMH and then have breakfast?
How far from the parks is the hotel? Is it a short walk or do we need to take the shuttle bus?

We are going on what I think will be a busy weekend, it is the last 2 days of the 15th celebration and also the weekend of the Welsh festival, but that is when she insisted on going, then she told me she doesn't do mornings on holiday!:scared1:
How busy will these things make the park? Does the Welsh festival draw big crowds and effect park touring, or is it more in the village?

I am seriously starting to wonder about going at all.:confused3 I haven't been for 4 years and she hasn't been for about 10 :scared1: Am I mad?

Thanks for any help you can give me.:thumbsup2

I love the HNY, it has a more adult feel to it then the others. I haven't stayed for a while but do know that you do have hot & cold options at breakfast.

I think you maybe able to hire a kettle from reception as they don't have these in the rooms.

Breakfast is usually served from 7-10am so it would probably be best to have an early breakfast before EMH or come back before EMH finishes.

The hotel is about 5 minutes away, we have never used the shuttle for any of the Disney hotels as its easier & usually quicker to walk.

Most weekends are busy as many of the locals tend to come for the day etc.

Are you sure that the Welsh festival is on that weekend? St David's Day is March 1st so I would have thought the festival would have been the previous weekend.

We're just back from the New York hotel.

There was a kettle in the room, but no cups.
So, suggest you do like we did and bring travel cups and coffee/ teabags and sugar.
They have milk in the shop beside the lobby, in the drinks fridges (at the bottom).
The breakfasts are a buffet, scrambled eggs, bacon etc..., with juice and coffee. cereal also available.

It's a short walk from the hotel, you go out the main entrance at the ice skating rink, turn to the right and then through the Disney village (shops and restuarants) and then you're at the entrance to the park/ studios.

we went at a very quiet time (during the week also and only queued for 20 minutes max) and when it got to the weekend queues were at 2 hrs for the rides, you need to get some fastpass's for yourselves or you'll tear your hair out

rgds,
mr m

No it's definately the 6th - 8th March, I considered booking ours then, but eventually opted for a few days later in my quest for a peaceful park. :rotfl:

I spoke to a little girl in work last week whose school choir has been chosen to perform there for the festival. How exciting is that ?

Thanks for the replies and all the useful information, anyone else got anything to say?:goodvibes

I just read thaat your friend says she doesnt do mornings?!

Thats the BEST time at DLP! And the reason I'm staying at DLH is so I can get in that couple of minutes earlier in the morning!

So even if you're friend wont get up, please go and see the park at EMH opening time!!!

Made for the best part of my whole trip in July!!!!!

I LOVE that deserted feel of main street during EMH :lovestruc

we always go on wkends ( offsite with AP's)and during EMH we get more rides done in that 2 hrs than we got done on one whole day before on previous trip! ( No APs then ;) )
