Help! It's only the end of September and I am already in a lunchbox rut!

Sandwich, fruit, veggies, drink--day after day for my dd....

Any creative ideas to share would be very much appreciated (especially by my dd!!)

Thanks!

There is an excellent thread with lunch ideas on the budget board ! look it up, there are plenty of creative ideas

My DD doesn't like sandwiches, but doesn't mind cold leftovers. Sometimes she gets leftover mac and cheese with her fruit, cheese, fruit snacks and graham crackers/ or 'Nilla wafers.

She also seems to like "breadless" sandwiches- ham, cheese and lettuce.

Beanie weenie, spaghetti, even leftover refried beans with cheese and sour cream seem to be good. Could add a tortilla with that one, or even chips to eat it like "dip".

You can do wraps with tortillas too.

I just saw a story on the Today show about kids lunches and they used tortillas and making wraps. Better than the plain break sandwiches. I made one for myself and it was really good. I also substituded ranch dressing for mayo. I would check the Today show website and see if they have any other suggestions.

My favorite is $1.75

so they can buy lunch! I got so frustrated with my kids liking something one week and hating it the next that they just buy lunch now.

Hummus and pita bread with chunks of feta cheese.

cold spaghettios, Walmart sells a thermos just for spaghettios.

Cereal

chicken caeser salads, make sure the dressing is on the side

tomato & fresh mozzerella salads

not sure what kind of palete you child has, but these are some of my kid's favorite lunches!

Brining cereal and buying milk was all the rage when my daughter was in the third grade.

My dd loves a salad w/ dressing on the side. She will also eat cold chicken nuggets. I cook and pack them the night before. She likes pasta salad alot too. :wave2:

Get one of those small thermos. You could put soups, stews, spaghettos, ravioli, chili. Give some crackers or some bread on the side. The thermos would also be good for fruit salads. Sandwich wraps are good. How about cold fried chicken or cold pizza.

Today my DD went to school with mac & cheese in a thermos and Cesar salad (with dressing, parmesan & croutons on the side)

I bet she was smiling when she opened her lunch box today! :flower:
