Okay, I tried to post this last night but got "this page could not be displayed", so if this thread is already out there, my apologies.

We leave tomorrow for a 3-night Wonder cruise. This is our first cruise on DCL. So, I have a few questions.

1. How cold is the A/C in the restaurants and theaters? Will I need to bring sweaters/jackets?

2. How much (in Amer. currency) does it cost to mail a postcard from Castaway Cay? I read somewhere on the boards that I should bring small bills because they don't have change, but I was curious as to how many small bills to bring.

Thanks for your replies! Anything else you think I should know or should make sure to bring?

Any comments are appreciated!

Approximately $38.34 ought to do it.

:p

Sam, be serious.
If hunnybee has to carry around 38 dollar bills AND 34 cents in change, which will umdoubtedly fall to the bottom of her purse and be lost forever, she'll be a wreck all week :teeth:

I asked the temperature question before my first cruise, so I know the answer!!!

Answer: It varies. On our first cruise (May 2002 Magic), it was REALLY cold in the theaters and pretty cold in the dining rooms. I had brought white sweaters for DD and myself, and we used them! In the theater, we learned to carry a stack of towels in with us to wrap around our arms. We just dropped them off in a housekeeping cart on our way out. On our second cruise (Jan 2003 Wonder), the temperature was much more pleasant in both places. We only used the sweaters in the theaters, and if I forgot, it was just slightly chilly. Interesting note was that the outside temp on the May trip was probably in the high 80s low 90s most of the time. In January, it was probably about mid 70s for highs. Maybe that was why they didn't have the ac cranked up, maybe it was just me.

If I were you, I'd definitely take nice sweaters, and see if you think you need them once you check the temperature.

Sorry, didn't mail postcards so I'm not sure on the price. I can't imagine it would be much more than a dollar though.

I believe that the stamps are 55 cents each.

Don't expect to receive your postcard at home for at least 2 weeks, but allow 6 weeks for delivery.

Thanks for all your replies! I'll take a jacket/sweater for each of us, just in case. And, I'll be sure to take enough money for the postcards.

Smchan, do you think I should take the $38.34 in Susan B. Anthony dollars? After all, that's what the postal vending machines give in change. Then, they could just refill their machine if needed! ;)

DMS_cruisers04, you're totally right! I would be a wreck. Especially since I already had to downsize my purse. I just don't think I could handle it!!! :hyper:

We had purchased an oversized postcard on CC, and it cost 65 cents to mail it, the regular size postcards were 55 cents to mail.
