Hi the only place I know that could help me actually pull this off.
My dd said today I would like to take some friends and go to MNSSHP. We live in NM so we have to fly. We usually stay at the grand Californian hotel and it is fully committed as are the other Disney hotels...
We need a suggestion for a hotel that is a very easy walking distance from the parks. We have one person who is a full time wheelchair user so we can't be too far from the parks as we may need to run back to the hotel throughout the day.

Thanks so much...this is a lot to pull off in a week...invite girls, hotel, air tickets , parent permission...not to mention sweet 16 stuff

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks
Jean

I would check the Park Vue Inn and the Best Western Park Place Inn and Mini Suites. They are literally right across the street!

Thank you for the hotel suggestions. I have started working on it and hope to find something.

OK More help please is there any company that does decorating of the hotel room or other short notice sweet 16 ideas.

Thanks so much

Jean

You might want to look at Disney Dream Makers (714) 781-GIFT (4438).

Also perhaps a floral shop, that could make a bouquet or gift basket.

Ditto the Park Place if you can't get a Disney Resort.

It is actually closer the front gate than the Disneyland Hotel. Right across the street from the entry plaza.

Good Luck,
k

It has been a busy day. 6 parents said their daughters can go. (one said no) Still waiting to hear on 2 more. Bought plane tickets and MNSSHP tickets. Four additional family members are coming and now I need to hear from 2 more of those. So now I need 4-5 rooms one of which needs to be wheelchair accessible.

So far no room at Park Vu, Candy cane Inn, Park Inn.

Thanks for the help and keep the suggestions coming.

Jean

Are you sure you can get everyone tickets to the Mickey's Halloween Party(MHP) night you want? They will all sell out.

Since this is getting last minute it's possible the hotels aren't full every night, but just one of the nights. You may need to break up into two hotels. These are all packed tightly so hotels rooms in two different hotels could be 100 feet away.

I'd suggest going to Hotels.com and searching the locations "Disney's California Adventure" the results will come up with Harbor Dr hotels, close enough to walk first.

I already bought the tickets today online. They appeared plentiful but that could have been an illusion. The maximum more I would need is 3 so I probably could find those some how if they sell out.

What do people think of the Fairfield Inn - location and quality. The other option is the Sheraton Anaheim Hotel or the Sheraton on Harbor?

Thanks,
Jean

Fairfield Inn would be fine. The other two are nice but will require transport to the parks. That can be a painful addition.

Fairfields good. We've only stayed there and Hojos. I like Hojos better, but Fairfields a little closer. And I think theyve done some recent renovating so its prob pretty nice. Good luck with your planning! Sounds super fun!

Ok, We switched Hotels. We are going to have a bit of a trek or take the hotel shuttle but that is ok, there are a bunch of us and we can keep each other company on the walk/shuttle. We are now booked at the Sheraton Anaheim. They have a 2 bedroom birthday party suite package which is a great price and can hold 7-10 people, , breakfast for 7 and parking for one car. We then booked 2 more regular rooms so we are all set on hotel, air and MNSSHP tickets. Now on to the sweet 16 stuff.

Thanks for the hotel help!!!! Any suggestions of things to do to make the MNSSHP and the Saturday park hopping extra special. We have 7 girls all about 16, a 12 yo and 7 yo.

Thanks again

My DD just went to a sweet 16 party at PPH and they really had a blast at Goofy's Kitchen the night before they went to the park. I don't know when you arrive or what you are planning for on your first day, but it might be something of an adventure to start off with dinner at Goofy's.

They all decorated matching t-shirts and wore them throughout the park when the went the next morning. The main thing that they seemed to enjoy the most was just being together and getting to make all the decisions about where to go, what to do, when to eat, what to eat, etc. Girls just love to hang out together so the best thing is to not plan the entire itinerary for them.

I alluded to it above. Don't go to MNSSHP, it's at WDW, go to Mickey's Halloween Party in DL instead.

With a big group I'd suggest one thing for park hopping. Use a runner to take everyone tickets to grab FPs. Once each ticket is used to enter either park it's active. So one person can for example leave the group in DL, go over to DCA and grab the WoC FPs and the Soarin or Screemin FPs.

Sounds like fun. We are hitting the ground running. Our flight lands at 1:15 in LAX, then shuttle to hotel, grab a snack and head to the Halloween party. So maybe Saturday night we could do Goofy's kitchen. I usually make t shirts for some of our Disney trips but not sure I can get that done..Now I am debating making myself a costume.

I am the designated runner, there are very few rides I can go on. Thanks for correcting me. You can send a girl to DLR but you can't take the WDW out of her. Actually I have probably been to both parks about a 10 times each but I am also getting up there and senior moments are far more frequent.

Thanks for all the help...Keep those ideas coming.

Not sure about your budget or what your kid might like ... but Build-a-Bear in DTD might be a very fun visit for a bunch of teenage girls. They are open late ... closing about the same time the park closes. You can take the girls in there and give them a budget for a bear and outfits. My girls love the place.

There is also a place called little mismatched in DTD that the girls really love. Basically it is all about very colorful missmatched socks.

They did a real fun thing that might be difficult for you to pull off ... but you might want to give it a go. While the girls are exploring the park, create a scavenger hunt for them. Take pictures using your camera phone and save them. Create two teams (or three if you like). Send them a clue via text message that describes the picture and where you took it ... be devious. The teams have to take a picture when they find it and then you send them another clue. You can do this in the park or in DTD. You probably need about 10 clues ... maybe less if you really spread them out. The pictures you take are really just to help you remember what your clues are and to resolve any potential disputes about finding the "right" clue.

Winning team gets some sort of prize ... maybe they each get a mickey bar.

Just a thought on the hotel. If you book at a Disney hotel, say Paradise Pier, since you have a person in a wheelchair, you might look into the possibility of them using their little cart/shuttle to take you into Downtown Disney. Worth asking, at least!

I like this and am planning on letting them be the leaders of the whole event with just a little planning so I know they eat.

Great Ideas, thank you. I don't think the budget can handle shopping but if the girls want to do them they will be bringing their own spending money. I am paying for everything else, park tickets, plane, hotel, food.

All the Disney hotels are booked but we will be fine where we are. I can roll pretty far and with 13 other people if I get tired they will just have to push me.

A couple more questions:
Where do you suggest we go for a sit down birthday dinner. We would love a character dinner but not a buffet?

Also, where can I get information about gluten free options at DLR?

Thanks for the help

Yeah, if you are paying for tix, hotel , plane, etc., for everybody, they can certainly use their own money for shopping. How nice of you to do that for your daughter, hope she realizes how fortunate she is. Hope it turns out great!
