When we woke up this morn, there were ladybugs everywhere in the family room! They're all over the windows and the house outside. We don't know where they came from and we can't get rid of them with Raid -- more just show up, plus the house stinks.

Any ideas??????

I googled for you and found an interesting article about infestations of Lady Bugs. The article is from a store but I'm sure you could find most of the products anywhere. At least you know you're not alone.

Lady Bug Infestation

Thanks! That is very interesting. Husband is inspecting guns and going up to inspect attic as we speak.

Well, I don't know what a Japanese Beetle is. They look like ladybugs, even with the dots and all, but aren't bright red, like regular ones...Not MICKEY red! They're more of a tan-red. All I know is they look like ladybugs and are annoying the heck out of everyone.

I guess I'll go on the internet.

I'd like to say that my house is very clean. There is never food sitting out or crumbs on the floor or anything. We do live in a wooded area, and it is getting cold, so I guess they thought we'd be hospitable and let them hibernate here. They're wrong!

One ladybug is cute and sweet. This is creepy. And relatives will be flocking in Wednesday, too. Oh, jeez.

In the first house my husband and I lived in, every fall for one day, our house would be covered with lady bugs (on the sunny side usually). The next day, they'd be gone. It happened every fall, and we chalked it up to migration. They always came and went quickly. I wonder if that will happen for you.

Yes! There are more on the sunny side. But they're everywhere. I do hope they --OK, one just landed on the keyboard. How did they get in here?! Ug! -- Anyway, I hope they go away quickly. Before my relatives show up and gross out. :flower:

I know exactly what you mean. They flew in for us when the doors got open or closed, and crawed in cracks in the screens/windows or under the door. We got a few in the house and they died quickly and I just vacuumed them up. The others went away. Good luck! I hope they go away for you soon!!

We had those things come last fall. They were here ALL fall. And they were all over the place, not just at our house. My grandma's house had them bad. It was so gross.

Ladybugs like to go where there are Aphids. If the weather has been right and Aphids are on the bushes and such in your area, you might see them. I also heard that they will stick to the side of a house for warmth when the weather gets cool.

We get these every year and my daughter is scared of them. Because they do bite. Whatever you do don't smash them they smell something awful. We usually vaccum them up if they are in the house.

If they aren't bright red but a dull kind of orange sort of red you have Japanese Beetles and they will bite.

Haven't seen any at my home, but at the school were I work they are awful. When you walk outside of the door you end up with 6 or 8 on you right away. And yes, they do bite.

Okay now I'm freaked out after reading this. My kids were outside and one of my DD comes in the house and says "Mom, there were so many lady bugs outside. I had them crawling on me." Then my other DD says to me that there's one in the living room. Then I sit down and read this?!! I'm scared now!

Well, I'm tired of killing them. Mostly they just hand out on the wall near the ceiling. Trails of them walking around the room. But some of them are in odd places. One got into my Kleenex box on the top of the toilet.

If they aren't gone tomorrow, I'm calling pest control. They may think they've won, since I'm sick of chasing them, but they're Dead Bugs Walking.

ICK!

These are NOT "japanese beetles", but are Asian Lady Beetles (NOT lady bugs). The are orangish, brownish, reddish, not the bright red associated with lady bugs. They don't bite, but they DO pinch and it hurts! BTDT. In the Fall, they work their way inside the walls/attics through small cracks or even boldly through your front door or down the chimney. They are looking to hibernate inside the walls/soffits wherever they can find space. "Once ladybugs have become established in the home, there aren't a lot of treatment options. There are not a lot of recommended chemical measures at this point. The easiest way to remove ladybugs, once they are indoors, is with a vacuum cleaner."

Chemicals do not work and will do more harm than good. The only way we've been able to deal with them is by sucking them up and THROWING the bag away IMMEDIATELY or by emptying a bagless OUTSIDE. Don't squash them, either, they stain and they STINK.

When we tore out a wall to do our kitchen addition, the space was literally crawling with thousands of them that had gotten inside the walls. We used 3 or 4 vacuum cleaner bags to get rid of them, but a few still seem to make it in every year.

Japanese beetles are brown and have no spots. Lady bugs come in a variety of reds and oranges down to a light brown with spots.

Japanese Beetles are 3/8 inch long metallic green beetles with hard, copper-brown wing covers. They are usually finished by late July/August. What you have are Asian Lady Beetles. They have nothing to do with the cleanliness of your home and, again, they do not bite and do not carry disease. They will, however, deliver a painful pinch. Resistance (w/ chemicals) is futile, you must use a vacuum or be assimilated! ;)

Yep, they are Asian lady beetles.

We have been dealing with them for a few years now. They are a real PIA.

We had a few on the outside of the house today. I hope none find their way in, but a few usually do.

Whether they bite or pinch, it hurts.

Actually, there is a product called Tempo that works great on the Asian Beetles. You can buy it at a farm supply store or online. It is made to control flying insects-farmers use it in their barns. Our County Extension agent recommended that to me and it works great. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=947569 This is a link to another post about these beetles I just posted on with directions.

Tempo is only for use outside to prevent them from coming near the house in the first place. I was saying that there are no chemicals to use INSIDE to deal with them. Once they are inside, the vacuum is the best way.
