I have been stung before but have never had the pain I am feeling now!!!!!
I mean serious burning pain.
Literally feeling like a red hot poker is being jammed into my leg right now!
The area of the sting is swollen about the size of a quarter.
My breathing is okay, just feeling nauseous.

I have ice currently on it...but it still hurts like a **********

Any ideas gratefully appreciated

Apply a raw onion to the site and/or meat tenderizer.

A paste of meat tenderizer and water helps with bee stings.

If there is any reaction like hives or swelling that is not localized to the spot you need to get to the ER. Allergic reactions to bites can be severe. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks all
I tried baking soda that just made it burn even worse.

No Hives or swelling.

Stinger is out.

Meat tenderizer? I'm a guy nothing I cook usually calls for that..lol

Maybe I call someone and see if someone can bring me over some.

Isn't Lawry's Season Salt meat tenderizer?

Did you look for ideas online, or just come here?

Remove the stinger with all haste, in whatever manner is most convenient. If you see a little black dot in the wound, part of the stinger is still present. I like scraping across the skin with a credit card to try to remove the stinger.

Apply a solution of one part meat tenderizer to 4 parts water. Papain, the enzyme in meat tenderizer, breaks down the protein in bee venom responsible for the pain and itching. Don't leave this on for more than 30 minutes, or it can irritate the skin. If this isn't available, you might try an antiperspirant. Aluminum chlorohydrate reduces the effect of bee venom, but to a lesser extent.

Apply cold. Use ice or cool water for 10 to 30 minutes after the sting. This blunts the body's allergic response.

An antihistamine such as Benadryl, taken by mouth, can give some added relief, and help prevent the reaction from spreading.

A shake lotion such as calamine can be helpful. A paste made of baking soda and water can have a similar effect.

Topical hydrocortisone can also provide some symptomatic relief.

Give acetaminophen or ibuprofen for systemic pain relief.

Thanks sweet angel...
Yes I have been looking online as well as looking here cause this place is a good wharehouse of info.

okay I got someone bringing me some benadryl

Have had a cold pack on it.

Next up, putting together a list of basic supplies for Shutterbug to keep in the house. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Update
Well am still alive and feeling better. Although it was a very rough painful night. I took a Benadryl which really made me drowsy more so than usual. The pain lingered through the night, the burning stinging so bad at times it woke me up from my drugged sleep. I have never had a sting affect me this way before.
When I woke up this morning the burning stinging was gone but it still really had a sore hurt type of pain. I hobbled around most of the morning. I kept putting Cortizone on it and taking Ibuprofen.

By noon the pain was starting to go away. I slept most the afternoon.
Now this evening the pain is gone but now it itches like crazy...lol

Thanks All

You know...are you sure it was a bee sting? Could it have been a spider bite? Keep an eye on the area...if you notice any weird changes, go to the doctor or ER. Seriously....don't be a guy about it...just do it.
