My 10 year old dd fell last week and it was still hurting this week so I brought her to a podiatrist. The doctor says she has chipped a bone in her big toe on her growth plate. She is not to walk on it for long periods of time. He has ordered her a surgical shoe which should come in tomorrow. He said no dance, definitely no soccer and no PE. I then asked him what we should do about Disney- We leave in 8 days!!! He told me to get her a wheelchair.

How can I push a wheelchair and a stroller? Do they have double strollers to accommodate a 60 lber and a 25 lber? If she has the surgical shoe on can we get on rides right away or do we need a doctors note?

I just don't know what to do at this point... I didn't buy travel insurance so I can't reschedule the trip... this is a once in a lifetime trip for us and I wanted it to be the best trip ever!

No, you can't get on rides right away - why would she need to do that? Use FP when available, and you can get a Guest Assistance Card if you think you need to use a stroller in line as a wheelchair. If you decide to just use a wheelchair for her, then you don't even need a GAC.

A 10 yr old and a smaller child might fit in the double strollers. If you do get a wheelchair, consider renting a child sized one offsite - the adult ones might be too big and uncomfortable for her. Check the FAQs on the disABILITIES board for some more info.

Hope you have a great trip!
