I managed to knock $300 off our AKL reservations working between Disney and AAA, but on the phone Disney also quoted me what they said was a good price for airfare for the three of us on Air Tran roundtrip BWI to MCO - $573.00 (that includes all taxes, fees etc.)

Problem is - I don't know what a good deal on airfare is!! That didn't sound so great to me since last time I flew it was from BWI to Cleveland for $77/pp roundtrip!

HELP! I have 24 hours to book that flight with them and it's considered retail air and it's non-refundable! We're staying for 14 days starting the day after Turkey Day, so I don't have any clue if the holiday affects prices or what. Sometimes it drives me crazy that SW waits so long to offer tickets!!

Anyone have any thoughts? Ideas on prices or similar experiences? THANKS!

Air Trans web site shows 984 plus tax for three with assigned seats, if you take the unassigned seats the fare is even cheaper. Look directly at the airline's web site and that should help you too decide.

I would say that is a fair fare. We are paying $175.10 each from Midway to MCO. So it would be $525.30 for us 3, it was $79 each way plus taxes and fees.

I would buy those tickets. My rule of thumb is to buy tickets if they are under $200 pp (you have $191pp). Keep checking back on the rates though b/c if the price for that flight goes down, call Air Tran and ask for a voucher for the difference. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! Between running around asking people in my office and getting your expert responses, I booked those tickets! I thought I had heard that under $200 per ticket was the way to go, but I couldn't remember and I don't fly enough to know! THANK YOU THANK YOU! :cheer2:

And thanks NJDad for that extra bit of info, I'll definitely keep my eyes open for any rate changes, I'm all about that!

Airtran will not give a voucher for the difference.

Zin -

FYI. Southwest is slightly cheaper than Air Tran. I am flying BWI to MCO 8/28 - 9/3 for $501.30 RT for 3 people. Sorry I didn't get to you sooner. Right now that fare is $526.40 for 3. I still have 2 months until my trip and I am hopeful that I will get a ding on my outbound flight and take a credit. Last night there was a ding for BWI to MCO but it was only on tues through Thurs flights.

Yeah, I figured I'd be giving up the Dings, which I downloaded for this trip... I was figuring between our 14 day length of stay and being around the Turkey day holiday, it might be harder to find a bargain. So I tell myself now I don't have to worry about it (unfortunately I know I'm going to watch for them anyway and kick myself later!) :teeth:

If you don't mind me asking, how did you save $300 on your AKL reservaton??

It's the AAA discount. My initial reservation didn't have the discount, but after reading a thread about AAA I looked into the savings. Technically, though, with the cost of the membership included, I really only saved $240. But that's still $240!! (I think the discount ranges from 10-15% depending on time of year, from what I read).

Oddly enough, my current HRH reservation directly through them with the play4free deal was cheaper than the AAA rate!
