We have rented points to stay at Kidani in september from a fellow I work with. I have the reservation with my name on it. My friend whom I bought the points from said I can buy the dining plan(it;s on the reservation) and park tickets when I arrive at the resort. However someone else told me they won't even talk to me at the resort, that the owner has to make all the purchases. Can anyone please put my mind to ease. This is a once in a lifetime trip and our kids and grankids are going with us. I would hate to get there and not be able to do anything. Thanks in advance

They are right in the fact that the individual that owns the points must add the DDP to your reservation at least 24 hours prior to your arrival. You can pay for it all when you get there but it has to be added in advance and the owner is the only one that can do this. Once they do that you should be golden at check in. They will not let you add to the reservation if you are not the points owner nor will they discuss the account. Hope this helps.

No need to worry. When DVC member make reservation make sure you name is on the reservation, and that the Disney Dining Plan is added. If all this is done you are PERFECT!!!! You can check in and handle ALL issues at the front desk. This includes paying for the Dining Plan and adding on your needed park tickets.
Have fun!!!!!:cutie:

It's not 24 hours, it's 48 hours for DVC members, 72 for regular guests. I'd stick with more than 72 to be on the safe side.

But if it's on the reservation as you said, it's already taken care of and you just need to pay for it on arrival.

You can purchase the tickets to the park when you get there. Nothing needs to be added to the reservation to do that. You can purchase at the concierge desk or at the park. I actually purchase ahead of time on undercovertourist. I think you also get a discount if you are on this site. It is a little cheaper than at the park. The dining plan needs to be added by the person you work with, as the past poster said. It would say on your confirmation sheet if he did that when he called to reserve. If not, he can call back to add it. It does not need to be paid for until check in. Magical Express, if you are using, also needs to be added ahead of time and does not cost any money.

As a nonmemebr, is they no other way to add DDP. I figured Disney would want to sell the DDP at any point. I did not know this

Right now, DVC members do pay for the dining plan at check in (due to change sometime later this year) but the member must add it to the reservation at least 48 hours in advance.

I would contact the member you rented from and make sure it is added to the reservation. If it is, you are all set. IF it is not, then they can just do it for you.

Once you arrive, you can pay for it. As far as tickets, you can purchase those on your own, either at WDW or through an authorized seller like Undercover Tourist.

Good luck and have fun!!

No, there is no other way to do it.

For whatever reason, the DDP is notoriously difficult to add to a reservation AFTER the reservation has been transferred to the resort's computer system. When the DDP was first introduced about 5 years ago, there were numerous stories of people literally waiting for HOURS while the resort staff tried to get the DDP added after the guest had arrived.

Shortly after that DVC took a hard-line stance that the dining plan must be added before arrival. Officially they state 48 hours prior.

Additionally, DVC Member Services will not interact with anyone but the points owner. So when it comes to putting requests on a reservation, adding the dining plan or booking Disney's Magical Express, the owner of the points must communicate directly with DVC.

Thanks everyone! You were all so helpful. We rented points to see if we like the whole DVC experience before we actually buy in! Thanks again!
