Gals & Guys :wave2:

i need your help :scratchin , me being miss un romantic has given my hubby 2b the task of picking out the music for our wedding. Although its a few years a way he wants me to make all the decisions for the big day so to inc him i said " you take care of the vowels & music".Although Marks asked me to come up with at least one song!

My fiance is quite good at liking "loved up" music where as im clueless :confused3 . I really like "when you wish upon a star" but i think we re gonna try & have some non Disney music as well. I read some one saying its good to have at least 4 songs.

We have a song together but Mark's said hes gonna try to write me one so i ll just have to wait & see (bare in mind hes never written one before).

Please let me know what songs you are going to play to give me some inspiration

Any suggestions or advice out there?? :thanks:

for our first dance i think we're probably going to go with "A Whole New World" but i had a few other choices as well.

i'm a Backstreet fan so i had a few picked out, he actually liked them when i had him listen to them, but we both decided on the above one anyway. but, the Backstreet songs i was going with were "Drowning", "Yes I Will", or "Rushing Over Me"(this is hard to find as it is an overseas release, so you might have to download it to a cd, but it's a really great love song).

also, "Amazed" by Lonestar is a really good song.

and off of the Cinderella Soundtrack(the one with Brandi in it) "Ten Minutes Ago" is a cute love song. "I've Had the Time of my Life" from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack is one i thought would always be fun for a wedding dance lol.

i dunno if you'd like any of those, but i thought i'd help out by giving you some ideas. if you haven't heard any of the songs you could try and download them using limewire(it's free and legal) and see if you enjoy any of them.

and as for Disney songs there's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?", "A Whole New World", and "When You Wish Upon a Star" although i'd find a newer version than the actual one used in Cinderella.

good luck!

BTW, When You Wish Upon a Star is from Pinnochio. ;)

I haven't picked any music yet, and I am very traditional for ceremony choices (or I am just unoriginal), but here are some ideas I am toying with for different things:
I Will by Ben Taylor (or The Beatles)
I Do by Paul Brandt
Don't Forget to Remember Me by Carrie Underwood
a few songs by Michael Buble
Somewhere Beyond the Sea (perfect if we get the Living Seas)

Look them up, give them a listen! Or just look at the words. I really love "I Will" and "I Do". HTH.

oh gosh you're right! i was thinking of "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes"! lol sorry and thanks.

Hi , I don't know if your family will be there to celebrate with you but a lovely song to dance with your dad is Luther Vandross "Dance with my father"

Lional Richie " Just to be with you again"
Robbie Williams " Angel "
Celine Dion " Because you loved me"
Celine Dion & R Kelly " Im your Angel"
Celine Dion "The first time ever I saw your face" Roberta Flack did this as well Beautiful both versions.
Best of luck I could go on for ages let me know if you need any others

:thumbsup2 Thanks everyone for all your suggestions, finding the right one is like a needle in a haystack! :confused3

Lilirishchick63: Its funny you should say about being a Backstreet fan, when we first started dating (many moons a go) Mark started listening to them as he went through a real loved up stage. Them & Savage Garden were the ones he use to like. Both me & Mark are big rock fans so for him to listen to them was quite a strange thing when you put in next to the likes of Metallic!!

I recognise some of the songs you mention. Mark wants a Foo Fighters song called Everlong. They played it in Friends when Monica & Chandler got married, if you know the song it was nt played the normal rocky way. It was acoustic, sounded quite sweet.

Mark also really likes an R E M song called At My Most Beautiful, it was released when we started getting quite serious about each other but i ve never been to sure on that one.

Our song is by an Australian band called Silverchair called my Favourite Thing, so more than likely that ll be played. (If you ve not heard of them, Natalie Imbruglia is married to the lead singer). But yet a gain thats kind of marks decision.

As i ve said im useless at liking "loved up" romantic music, this coming from a massive Nirvana fan whos idea of romance is listening to non stop Kurt Cobain

Itgirl753 :wave2: again. Being a newbie to the site its nice to chat to people whos sig i recognise! Im not too familiar with the songs you ve listed so i ll try & give a listen. I tend to like songs that are nt too well known or popular, im not too good with anything slushy.
I just would really like to be able to make some contribution music wise so i can prove Mark wrong that i can be sweet & romantic. :lovestruc

Cornish Pixie: My weddings going to be very small, my dads petrified of flying so wont come out :sad2: ( i ll have to have a blessing at home after wedding), my sis does nt think she ll be able to afford it. So it ll just be me,Mark & my mum.

Please keep the suggestions coming as well as letting me know what you guys & gals out there are intending or have already used :thanks:

Im assuming you mean your "first dance song?" so far im kind of thinking Luther Vandross Amazing Love.

Well i think the first dance song will probably be our song which is probably most appropriate but because we ve got a bit of a wait id rather get loads of ideas then have only two or three that way we can narrow it down to the ones that suit us best.

Is there any one thats choice in music is a bit out of the ordinary?? I read someone posting a while a go saying they were considering a Slipknot song.

oh Slipknot would definatly be interesting for a first dance! great band, although.......how would you actually dance?? maybe a wedding mosh pit?? lol

At our wedding (11 years ago), we danced to Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton. Our bridal party dance was "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from the Lion King.

At our vow renewal in May, the kids walked down the aisle to "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes", from the Jim Brickman CD. I walked down the aisle to "When You Wish Upon a Star" and we used "Beautiful" sung by Wayne Brady, also from the Jim Brickman CD--absolutely beautiful!!

Father/Daughter dance - Butterfly Kisses - Bob Carlisle
Mother/Son dance - Let Them be Little - Billy Dean
Mickey/Minnie entrance - Mickey Mouse March
Final Dance- Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton

Our First Dance song was "here and now" by luther vandross (it was a really long song, we laughed through the whole thing, b/c we we like HOW LONG IS THIS SONG REALLY!!!

our wedding party song was "time to remember" by Billy Joel
Dad and I danced to "in my daughter's eyes" by Martina McBride
DH and his mom danced to "through the years" by kenny Rogers

Just cause they haven't been mentioned yet, I'll add mine. My dh actually picked out our song, I had never heard it before and the lyrics were perfect for us. Edwin McCain "I'll Be". It's nice because it still gets played on the radio every now and then out of the blue.

I danced with my dad to "Unforgettable" my Natalie/Nat King Cole, but it's a great song in general.

Feline,

I wanted to sing "I Do" at my friend's wedding. It was in a book of wedding music I bought. I went out and bought the tape. I loved it so much, but she didn't have any singing.

"I Will" by Ben Taylor was in the movie Bye Bye Love (at the end during the credits). His voice is so smooth - just like his father's, James Taylor. But I guess it was originally a Beatles song. I've only heard the Beatles version once.

I have NO idea what songs I want to dance to. I will probably go for something "older" like "The Way You Look Tonight" or "Beyond the Sea" and "I Could Write a Book." Like I said, I do like the way Michael Buble and Harry Connick Jr. have redone some old ones, but I still may go with the originals! My mother insists I have to have "Daddy's Little Girl" for my father/daughter dance - ugh!!

LiLIrishChick63 :

Its good to know that theres another "rock girl" on here :woohoo: , im a Massive Nirvana fan :cloud9: . i tried talking Mark in to letting me play something by them but got a look which i know means "dream on" :sad2: .

Marks a massive Silverchair fan, i use to like them but he kind of :crazy2: drives me nuts with Silverchair overplay. You may know the song which i said is "our song" then, most people have nt heard of them so its kind of nice to hear from someone who does!

I thought that when i read about the Slipknot song, very interesting :scratchin !! I take it that it must be kind of mellow, or at least i hope. Then a gain a weddimg mosh may be kind of interesting!

:thanks: Thanks to Mommy Poppins ,dsnyfan6/18 & connorsmom911, its lovely to know what everyone has or will be playing. I dont recognise all the songs mentioned, the uk music press is nt always too hot at playing anything that is nt pop but i ll try my best to hear them!!!

ItGirl753: Wow you must have an amazing voice to be able to sing at weddings!! have you thought about maybe singing at your own wedding??

Even though your mums some what pushing you in to playing a song, i think it sounds sweet & im sure your dad will feel dead chuffed

Endless Love is a beautiful song... My song with my fiance is Lovesong by 311...

Feline,
I used to sing with a group of alumni from a Catholic HS where they have an awesome music program (funny, I am not Catholic). So we used to get weddings. I didn't really sing solos back then, it was all group stuff. That was how we earned money and the rest of the time we sang "charity" concerts in nursing homes. Anyway, I was at a wedding where the bride and groom sang to one another. Not sure I would like to do that. I do not think I would want to be nervous and perform on my day. I do sing a lot at church and I currently have been singing period pieces from American Civil War era, as I had an ancestor who fought (I belong to an ancestors group) and do a bit of reenacting for that. That's why I have so many "opinions" on ceremony music -- just my past experience singing at weddings.

for your "wedding party dance" was it just kind of a slow whatever they wanted dance, or did you actually learn some sort of dance routiene. i always thought it would be cute to do one with the wedding party. i joked around with my fiance about doing the "I've Had the Time of my Life" dance from Dirty Dancing lol.

our actual "song" is "The Reason" by Hoobastank, so we'll probably have that played at some point in the wedding.....and of COURSE we have to have "White Wedding" by Billy Idol(my love since i was 3! lol).

i haven't really listened to Silverchair much lately. i was more of a fan when i was in high school. my fiance LOVES Nirvanna! and Radiohead....which is strange considering two totally different types of music there! lol.

you're right, it's nice to find someone with similar music tastes on here! lol

we had a personal friend sing 'when i fall in love' by celine dion during our ceremony and our first dance was to 'amazed' by lonestar :surfweb:
