I got all the decrations out today and only 2 of my 6 light strands are working. Two of them "blew up" as I plugged them in to test them...all 200 lights on the strand are black. :headache: The other two sets are not working even though they are the "stay on" type and I've gone through and wiggled the lights. I live about 30 min. from the closest dept. store and WM and Target are in opposite directions. I'm off to check the on-line adds but did anyone notice basic white lights on sale anywhere today in their Sunday paper?

TIA

Just a word of warning - I was in two Target stores yesterday (don't ask!) and picked up one of the pre-lit trees. I was debating doing a plain tree and buying lights instead (I wished the tree had more lights on it) but they were absolutely cleaned out of strands of lights. I don't know if they were a BF special or something, but just an FYI that you might want to call and see what they have if you are interested in any particular set(s).

Sounds like the fuse blew. There should be a little cylinder fuse in the plug that you can change out.

This happened to us too! I came up with the idea to repurpose some outdoor led lights I had. I usually like a tree with white lights but my kids love the color ones this year!

We found LED indoor/outdoor strings of lights at Home Depot for $2.50 a strand. They are super energy efficient as well as fantastically priced!

They had all white and multicolored sets right as you walked in the main doors. Ask the greeter and they can show you where they are. :thumbsup2

Wow! That's a good price if it's at least 100 per strand.

Thanks everyone. I'll try to replace the fuse on the one strand that isn't black if I can find one of those in my bag of spare bulbs.

The prelit trees never have enough lights for me. I usually have 1200 lights for a 7-8 ft. tree. The most I've seen on a prelit 7.5 ft is 800. I guess you can always add more lights yourself...but that sort of defeats the whole purpose.

Are you near a Lowes? They have boxes of 100 lights for $2.69 each. Multicolor, white, and also many single colors (green, red, purple, gold, etc.) Haven't had any problems with them so far!

Agreed! We always do a real tree with strand after strand of lights for our main tree, but up in our front window in our entryway I always put a pre-lit tree. It's just too hard to decorate anything once you put it up there (the shelf the tree sits on is about 11 feet up in the air and only about 24 inches deep, so no standing up there and winding lights around a tree for me!). I figure you'll only really be looking at it from outside, so hopefully it will look good enough. :confused3

OP, good luck with your hunt!

Actually we just bought those lights at Lowes for $1.99 each today!!
Didn't have many left though at that price.....

I like red very much, but didn't want a tree with all red lights. So, I bought 2 sets of all white lights and 2 sets of all red lights. Then I sat and took 1 strand of each color and switched every other light so I ended up with 4 strands of red and white lights. It looked great!:santa:

I have red and white from valentine's one year! I need to stock up on lights again after Christmas. Our tree ones hardly ever work year to year but our outdoor ones do and they are the same lights!

Walgreens has alot of different lights on sale. Saw 3 for $7.98 (pack of 100)
