We are in the process of moving and we are doing the packing ourselves. Anyone know where can I get boxes without spending an arm and a leg? :confused3

When we moved we asked at local Liquer stores they were glad to give them
they were mostly broke down but we just taped them back into shape

Call local moving companies. They have used boxes that you may be able to buy.

I'll give some advice of where NOT to get them- restaurants and the food departments of grocery stores. My sister grabbed a bunch of them from Stop & Shop and they were full of cockroaches.

DH and I snagged a bunch from work. heheh
printer paper boxes are nice and sturdy for breakables

plus both of our offices use "moving companies" when moving aroud people in-house...we got lucky that DH was in the middle of a move and he snagged a bunch of the boxes...they broke down nice and flat and popped right back into shape. we made sure not to write on them too much as we returned 90% of them when we were done.

or - you could go dumpster diving behind fast food places...hehehe..i moved in/out of college with boxes I took from Taco Bell (i used to work there in HS)

Liquor stores. Go and ask when they get their shipments in, and they'll be able to tell you the best time to come back and pick up boxes.

Some of the liquor stores around here actually put their boxes outside the front door for people to come pick up any time.

Definitely check at the liquor stores. The ones near us have been happy to give us all the boxes we want. An added bonus was that some of the boxes still had the bottle dividers in them which made them great for moving stemware, glasses, etc. :sunny:

ewwweewwwww! I'll make sure not to go there!!!

My DH has now volunteered to check the Liquor Stores!! :rotfl:

Try Costco, Sams, BJs... our local BJs keeps a cart of boxes for the taking at the front of the store.

To bad you don't live closer to me, I just moved and have a ton of boxes that I need to get rid of. My husband works at a factory and they saved the boxes for him. You might want to try a grocery store, they go through a lot of boxes in a day.

If you have a college around you, try their Warehouse! We have tons here, and I'm looking forward to putting them to good use during my upcoming move! :teeth:

Maybe try a Kinko's or one of those print places. Boxes that hold the reams of paper are usually nice and sturdy.

I usually just snag the boxes at work. Copy paper boxes, computer boxes, those are great boxes.

If you need bigger boxes, maybe Bestbuy/Circuit City/Staples/OfficeMax/OfficeDepot can help you.

I was going to say Office Depot/Office Max. At our stores they have the boxes in the back that are broken down and up for the taking.

If you need to buy boxes, Costco has "bankers" boxes for a good price in paks of 6. They're especially good for books.

I've got the BEST place!

Try your local Disney Store!

I got over a hundred boxes from mine in all sizes, they were broken down but I taped them back together and they were FABULOUS!

One of the managers of my local store lives near me, and she even delivered a bunch to my house a couple times!

Also, toy stores usually have a ton of clean cardboard boxes as well.

If you have a Toys R Us nearby, ask them. I would call, find out when the next truck is, and then see when you can pick up boxes. They will be broken down, but nothing a little tape can't fix. I got all my boxes from my work (I work at a TRU) and they were great, very sturdy.

I want to thank everyone for all your great suggestions. I would have never thought of going to some of these places. Thanks to your advice, I collected a TON of boxes in great condition!! The Dis saves another day! :disrocks:
Now if you all could come over and help me pack.... ;)
