Ok. Here's one for you to try. I spent Christmas Day on the Gettysburg Battlefield taking photos of the monuments while it was snowing, took them home(the photos, not the monuments!) and printed them on transparency paper. Get the clear glass ornaments , figure the size circle you need ( this is a little trickey - you have to keep adjusting till you get it right but after that it's smooth sailing) and cut the photos to the circle size. Roll them into a small tight cylinder and stuff them into the ornament and "sproing"! they unfold and fill the ornament. Use tweezers to wiggle them into the right position and put the top on and tie a ribbon to the loop ( I used blue or gray depending on whose side it was) and presto! A nifty tree decoration. I did some of my nephew's wedding photos, old photos of family and some snow shots of an old covered bridge near me, my neighbor's barn at daybreak in the snow, my cat, my wolf, my dog, my horses, you name it. I did one of Ulysses S Grant's great-great grandson in his re-enactment uniform. The images are slightly transparent and look slightly "ghosty" but they are super. This year one of the street artists in town is going to sell them for me. They also make super Christmas gifts.
I also started handpainting ornaments to look like the old Polish ornaments that cost so darned much, but with a slightly different twist. I'm doing them with a Southern Appalachian theme. Get the pearlized ornaments and metallic spray paint and spray a base color on them. You can do flowers, scenes, folk art, anything you want and no two are alike. Give it a try and have fun.
