Hello everyone! I'm a newbie to the site(which I love!) and I need some help with our trip next August. We've stayed at Riverside twice, which we really, really liked-although with 3 kids(2 of them 12, &13 yr. old boys) its getting a little packed. So I am at my other choices of either Beach Club(it's a little bigger and I hear the pool can't be beat, not to mention the location) or CBR and getting adjoining rooms to put the boys in. I believe its a diiference of about $30(with CBR being lower. But , GEEZ, for $30, should I just shut up, stick everybody in one room, just for the pleasure of enjoying The Beach Club? OH! And 1 more thing, I've had a bad experience with a deluxe resort already this year, so I am a little nervous in trying a hotel with 1 pool, hallway noise, and unfortunately rude cast members.

thank you for taking your time to read this. Hope you can help!

Which resort did you have problems with?

I aske because I was going to recommend the Poly. The rooms are larger and they have the day bed. We were trying to decide between BC & Poly and the price was right at the same.

I have a feeling you won't find "hallway noise & rude castmembers" everywhere. It may have been an isolated incident. But I don't know the details of the problems you encountered so I can't really touch upon that. I've had nothing but wonderful experiences at Deluxe Resorts. Beach Club is absolutely wonderful and you can't beat the location (walking or boat to MGM and Epcot). The location has us spoiled to this area. If your kids like swimming you may want to share this link (from a fellow DISr, tagrel):

Best of luck with your decision! :)

Yes, I'm sure it was an isolated incident and I even hate to mention it because I know that there are MANY who absolutely love this place, but it was the Lodge. It was a bunch of little things, but, IMHO, for a deluxe resort, none of those "things" should have happened. I didn't let it ruin my vacation, but to be honest, I was ready to go home after 2 days there. I hate to be a downer to any of the resorts, because I generally love each and every one for diffrent reasons, we just won't be going back to that particular one.

Definitely check out the link I gave you above for the SAB picts. This might help you make a decision! Plus, the Boardwalk is so much fun! :)

No question..........deluxe it............

Especially for the age of your kids !

CBR's themed pool if for very young kids. Your kids are way too old to even want to go on the slide. They will be bored to death. Also it is a big resort with small theme pool. Smaller than most subdivison pools here. The quiet pools were a waste of space. I'll never go back!

The Beach Club pool is great for them. Maybe only one pool but it is huge! We haven't stayed but were able to visit friends there. They will have a great time and your room won't be crowded because they'll want to stay at the pool. We had great burgers and ice cream sundeas right there at the pool and it was a wonderful experience. Plus your location to EPCOT, MGM and the Boardwalk are perfect.

At CBR you are STUCK! No where to go, and we couldn't leave there fast enough each morning.

The only negative I have ever heard from people who stayed was when they were in the buildings the farthest from the pool area, so just request something more towards the middle.

PS. The absolutely worst experience I ever had with CM was the CBR. PrePAID for waterview, got parking lot - stairwell view and they actually argued with us about moving. The hotel is SO big, that the customer service was spread very thin. We got none.

Thank you Hopperfan, for your input. You made some excellent points....except for the fact that you mentioned how OLD my boys were. That makes me feel ancient:( . It's ok though, I still have my 5 year old to make me feel young. Just when I thought I had my mind made up, someone put the idea in my head to stay at the Poly......decisions, decisions.

I have one that is 19.5 so I'm way ahead of you!
(and a 14 yr and 10 yr)

Besides NO ONE IS OLD at WDW !!!!!

We were at CBR with a 9 and 5 yr and they were bored.

Polynesian is one I would still like to try.

But I still think at 12/13 and even 5 they would LOVE the Storm-a-long swim area. Especially in the summer when the pool will be a real destination spot.

Beach Club, no question. The older boys will love the pool, and my experience has been that boys that age can be a little hard to please at times (no offensive meant). The location can't be beat either--the Boardwalk has some great activities and the best rides in my opinion are at MGM. The 5 yo will enjoy the MGM shows. Everyone will love Fantasmic. Your kids will probably like some of the thrill rides at Epcot--Test Track and Mission Space. I love the World Showcase, and so does my 3 year old son. There are some great restaurants there, too. Even though it would have been nice to be on the monorail line and close to MK, I actually preferred the Epcot area and having more of a choice where we could go. I found the bus service to MK/AK to be good, too.

Thank you all for your help. I think I'm sold on the Poly. My 5 year old really loved the EWP every night and the access to the MK resorts as well as Epcot sure is a plus. So I figure, I got a year to save...I might as well go Concierge, like I got nothing else to spend my hard-earned tax return on. thanx again and I'm sure I'll be back with more questions.

I am glad you picked the Poly. We have 3dss and have stayed at both the beach club and the Poly. We usually stay at the Poly all the time now. This time we also threw in the swan for 3 extra days after the FTP at the Poly in Aug. The things the Poly has over the beach club that we found more convenient was the 24 snack place captain cooks. better kids activities for free which seemed non existent at the beach club. Dont forget the arcade challenge, pool games and arts and crafts and disney movies for the little one. Great on site child care at the neverland club. Couldnt find a fast or convenient place to refill mugs at the beach club and getting into stormalong bay was like getting into fort knox. Your family will love the poly.
