Help, I have 196 points in holding, don't know anything about holding

I recently had to cancel my reservation at AKL. My points were put into holding. I know I can't make a reservation unless I'm in a 60 day window of travel. Can anyone else tell me about holding points, can I transfer them now if someone wants to buy them? Any info. besides what I have would be great.

From (oops - didn't realize I couldn't post that link! - let's call it a popular DVC member website!). It does not address transfers.

Cancellations coming between 1 and 30 days prior to check-in result in points being placed in a Holding status. Holding points are still the property of the member, but they can only be used to book a subsequent trip on 60 days’ notice or less. Holding points may not be banked, and will expire at the end of the current Use Year.

I'm thinking you can't transfer them, or if you can, the same rule might apply -they could only be used to a trip with 60 days notice or less.

You can't transfer them but you can make a reservation for someone else at 60 days.

If you don't want to chance the 60 day deal, you can always deposit with RCI to use later.

A reminder here - general discussion of renting and transferring points is fine. But providing details such as use year, resort, villa size, dates, etc is not allowed. Those may only be posted on our DVC Rent/Trade Board. Thanks everyone..
