My DH was a Dale Earnhardt fan from way back and we were totally devastated when he died on the track. DH is a JR. fan and I totally love Elliott Sadler and DD's love Kasey Kane and Jeff Gordon. So we all have our own fav's. It makes for an interesting Sunday afternoon in my house.

I am a Nascar fan, but I like the oldies-Mark Martin
Dale Jarrett, and miss MR. Boogity-DW on the track.
I "wicked plan" everything. When we went to
Williamsbrug for Labor Day week a couple of years ago I was very glad I packed a variety, because the weather there that week was just like being home in New England.
I have to switch shoes do to feet issues, but with this trip that I have waited years for, I am planning, read my
Birnbaum, Passporter, UG and Disney for Dummies for pleasure reading every night.
The last thing I want to do when it is 90+ outside is stand there and go , okay , what should we do? (it is just not for me, need a plan of action WELL in advance)
call me crazy, but I am a type A........
:teeth:
:hourglass 65 days to go!
YES- MY HOLIDAY SHOPPING DONE!

Nascar does make for interesting Sunday afternoons. My grandfather was a big Dale Sr. fan, which is why I guess I have a soft spot for junior. My mom is a Bobby Labonte fan and my DH is a nut for Dale Jarrett. He has always been a big ford fan and he is not real happy that Dale will be moving to Toyota. Why? I don't know since we owned a Toyota truck and he loved it. I have always been a Terry Labonte fan. We were at the Coke-Cola 600 and it was hard for me since I know that I will have to pick a new driver next year. I really liked Adam Petty. Oh well I think I might pick the #9 car.

Did you...
-buy lanyards to hold your tickets, fast passes, etc.?
-get comfy shoes?
-buy some body glide?
-get an over the door shoe hanger from the dollar store?
-buy glow sticks?
-make an index card to carry with you each day listing all your important info.? (like ADR numbers and times, extra magic hours, can't misses for the park of the day, CS places to try, etc.)

Someone suggested this to me and we loved it...
Make a chain with the same number of links as days until you leave. Each day remove a link. Kind of like an Advent Calendar!

Yes the index cards are a great way to keep everything organized. For our last trip, I had color coded index cards for each day. Each day I had a green card for ADRs and times, a yellow index card for park times and EMH, and a orange card for things that I wanted to make sure that we did at that park. My father who is color blind could not get it straight. LOL

Get your Disney fix here on the DIS untill your trip.

I bought us each on at Wal-Mart for $0.98. They worked great. You find them with the wallets, sunglasses, etc. It is called an ID Holder. There is a plastic zip-lock ID holder at the bottom that works great for tickets, fast passes, cash, etc. I wore mine every day and loved it!!! I even attached one the the alien green mickey heads from Home Depot to show that I was a DISer!!!

It will just save you some money at night in the parks. In MK during SpectroMagic they roll out carts full of glow sticks, flashing necklaces, light swords, etc. If you have some cheap ones you can avoid buying them there. In theory - but - our boys really "needed" the light sabers, so they had the ones we brought and the ones we bought!

It is also much easier to keep up with your group when you are all glowing!

I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in my anal retentive vacation planning! Everyone kids me about it, but we are able to get a lot more out of our time at Disney with a little advance preparation. This board is great. I've been 'lurking' for a while and finally subscribed. Keep the great ideas coming!

Sometimes when all my planning is done, I will...

- print menus for all my ADR's

- figure different transportation routes

- plan specific photo opportunities based on photos I see here that I like and want to re-create

Pixie dust,

Susy

Posting one liners like that, you better be as anal retentive in hoping that the Tag Fairy is on vacation this week. :rotfl2:

I'm new to this board (look at my join date and my # of posts). So you're gonna have to help me out here -- what is a Tag Fairy?

We went to Disney last summer and we did it commando style. Imagine that with DH, 3 boys aged 8, 6 and 3 at the time and me, plus my diabetic mother who will be 62 this year. It was a do everything, see everything vacation and it was exhausting!! Despite my intensive planning, I still didn't have everything as well planned as I thought. Plus kids have a tendency to ruin your plans by requesting to do things on days you didn't plan to!!

So after buying into DVC last summer, we decided to try it all again this summer, with the same cast of characters!! This year, it's supposed to be a more relaxing vacation, with more down time. We know what we want to see again, what we missed and what we can skip this year. We're doing the dining plan, so we're planning more sit-down meals. We're planning resort and pool days. I'm getting a pedicure, no matter what!!

And yet I have even more planning to do!! Planning all those meals and relaxing days has required even more thought and pre-planning on my part. Last night, I couldn't sleep, because I was once again going over my ADRs in my head. We had a change of dates on the vacation because of Southwest. We had planned to drive, but now we're flying!! :Pinkbounc
I'm so very excited about not spending 20 something hours in the car with 3 boys!! But I had to change dates and resorts and ADRs!! Actually, when i changed my ADRs for the last time (yeah, right), I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders, but I'm still not done. I need to plan park itineraries. I need to make packing lists. I'm sure that there are things I need to buy.

And I don't even have any lime green mickey heads!! I think I need help!

Ok, I'm new here. What is the REI Baggallinni???

First trip 9/16 - 9/22, POR!!!

A tip...the 'spice' color is really a burnt orange but it's not too bad - Looks good with the green interior.

I see you're in Littleton - we're in Aurora! Hi neighbor! :wave2:
