Help. I don't know anything about DVC but have a question.

Hi. My sister in law is gifting my son a DVC stay for his honeymoon. (The wedding has now been rescheduled) She has points that are set to expire in September, has there been any extension on banked points which are probably from 2018?

I believe those banked 2018 points with 9/30 expiration date has been extended to the end of the year. I am sure someone will respond that knows for sure.

Any banked 2018 points from a September UY will be extended until November 30th, 2020.

They will not be available to use for booking until after Sept 1st. So, in order to secure something now as things are disappearing quickly, she would have to use other points first, if she has them.

One thing not to do would be to borrow points since those would then be stuck as well.

Any banked 2018 points from a September UY will be extended until November 30th, 2020.

From the Disney vacation club email I received:
"Additionally, April, June and now August, September and October 2018 Use Year points that were banked into 2019 Use Years and used for these reservations will now all expire November 30, 2020. This temporary policy only includes expiring points that were used to book a stay arriving between March 12 and the end of the closure period and that involve a reservation cancelled after February 29. "

Were the points in a reservation and cancelled by the shutdown? If not, they still expire in September
