We are flying to D:confused:isney on AirTran. We are using Magical Express. The AirTran website says that you have to pay $15 for your first bag. Now, half the websites say that with Magical Express, you get your first bag free. But the other half say that you have to pay your bag fees by phone before you use Magical Express. My travel agent doesn't know. AirTran said to ask Disney. Does anyone know?

AirTran charges a fee to carry your bag on the airplane. Magical Express does not charge you any fees to carry your bags on their buses. On your return trip if you check your bags at the resort, you'll have to pre-pay the bag fee for AirTran before they take your bag. The Magical Express portion is still free, it's the airline portion that's not.

I thought that AirTran charges the fee for checked bags. And I guess I'm asking about that. Do they also charge for a carry on????

No the PP mis-worded their statement I think. AT only charges to check baggage, not to carry baggage on the aircraft.

I think if you use resort airline checkin that you can pay to check your luggage at the resort when you check in for the airline and then ride ME when you are ready to leave.

I guess I was a bit unclear. I meant they charge you a fee for carrying your checked baggage for you between your originating airport and your destination airport. They're not involved in the buses at all. Your 2 carry-ons are still free.

DME charges nothing to move your bags. But, the airlines do....depending on the airline, you may get two checked bags free, one checked bag free, or no bags free. Each airline has it's one size limits for carryon luggage....but they don't charge for carryon luggage, at least at the moment.
Here is where the confusion may be....
DME used to send out two luggage tags per person on the reservation. When many airlines started charging for that second checked bag, DME decided that the majority of guests would take only one checked bag each, avoiding the checked bag fees. So, in order to cut costs, they started sending out just one luggage tag per person. Why send two if the majority of guests were just going to toss that second one out?
It is not DME that is charging you for bags, it is each airline. When you check in at your home airport, you will be charged for any checked bags at the counter where you check those bags. When you are at WDW, you will get a notice the day before you are to depart, giving you your DME pickup time, as well as the phone number for BAGS. You call them, before you head to the RAC counter on your departure day, and pay those luggage fees over the phone, with a credit card. You are given a confirmation number which the RAC people will want to see.
