I admit I am a compulsive planner and I can not deceide what excursion to do in Nassau. I need honest opinions on Atlantis excursion and blackbeard's. Can anyone help? Thanks

Atlantis was great. We took a water taxi over and just explored on our own. It was the first time (I know it's hard to believe) that I had ever been inside a casino and I finally got to play a slot machine. Didn't do to bad, got $20 in quarters and walked out of there with $67.50, so I was happy.

Sorry I can't help you with Blackbeard's.

Personally if we ever go to Nassau again we will treat it as a day at sea and just stay onboard the ship. The vendors in Nassau are VERY VERY pushy and don't like to take NO for an answer.

We took a carriage tour around town before we headed to Atlantis and I don't think it was worth the $$$ we paid. It was $45 incl tip and it wasn't very interesting. Our guide sat up front driving, facing forward, and talking to us about the history of Nassau, population, crime, justice system and banking, but most of what he said we couldn't hear. It was like listening to a radio that is losing the signal. You hear a bit here and there and try to piece the rest together.

I think the most interesting thing we saw on the tour was a billboard on a building that said, "Protect ya ting, use a rubber everytime" I was cracking up to see that advertised so bluntly. That is an openess that this country might want to think about trying. LOL

We had a diffrent experience with the vendors....although they were some what pushy...they did respond VERY well when we said no thanks...They simpley said...well if you change your mind...just ask for ---their name---, and I'll be right over there.

As for excursions...we also did Atlantis...but we booked a day room at the Hotel and used the water slides, pool, beaches, and lagoons....oh and we went through their aquarium, aka the dig. If your thinking of just exploring Atlantis...I'd do it on your own...and not through Disney...(DCL charges more...for just taking you there...and going on the tour.)..but that's JMO. There is a nice public beach behind Atlantis also that you could spend some beach time while your there. Just so you know...unless your a hotel guest...you CAN'T use the slides, pools, private beach, lagoons....and so on..You can however pay admission and go through the dig. I guess I should say I wouldn't go with a disney excrusion to Atlantis...if I had to pick between the two that they offer...I'd pick the Atlantis Beach day excursion...from what I understand...you get to go through the dig (aquarium) lounge and play on their private beach...including the use of a lounge chair...and you get some sort of meal...plus your able to roam aound the hotel and casino...but you can also roam the hotel and casino...for just the taxi ride over.

Based on what I had read here my expectations for Nassau were not very high. Once we got out on the street and past the pier we didn't encounter any hawkers (for lack of a better word). The ones we did encounter we just politely said no and kept moving.

KyCruisinSusan - I took a pciture of that billboard!
