I promised my DS I’d stop smoking and I just had to do it before my trip to WDW this summer.

Quitting smoking!!! Today is day #2 and I was wondering if anyone had any good tips for me. Right now I have horrible headaches, and starting to feel nauseas. I know its my body going through to withdrawal. Please someone tell me when it gets easier? And WHEN it does it get easier? thanks for your help!

Good for you!!! :goodvibes

It is a long road (my husband quit about 9 years ago). He went to his doctor who put him on an anti anxiety medicine. It took the edge off. I think it was Wellbutrin. He couldn't use the patches (gave him horrible night terrors) or chew the gum. He had tried quitting before and was horrible to live with, short tempered and irritable. This time with the Dr help he was able to manage to emotional and some of the physical symptoms of withdrawal.

He also bought lollipops to suck on any time he felt like lighting up. Good luck with quitting & congratulations on taking that first step.

My husband quit last year while being deployed. I knew he wanted to quit but couldn't believe he would quit during that time.

Anyways, he told me the biggest problem besides the physical cravings was the habits and emotional or mental dependance on smoking. When he was upset he would go outside to smoke and think things through. He would smoke and drink when we would be with some others out on the town.

The biggest thing about smoking was the sheer habit of it. He would get in the car first thing in the morning and have his coffee but not his cigarette and the same after dinner. No after dinner smoke.

Start thinking about how you are going to replace your habits and deal with the emotional situations. My husband used tons of mint and gum for the first month or two and twiddled a pencil in his hands when he just HAD TO HAVE the cigarette when upset or thinking but wouldn't smoke.

Good luck it's not an easy road but supposedly my husband says he can really tell the difference after a year of not smoking. I know that there is a big thread on the community board about quitting also. They can be good support for you.
