We leave tomorrow for Florida and DH has fractured his leg! He has a big boot and crutches, and I've reserved him a motorized scooter for while we're there.
He can walk short distances.

I need a few questions answered please:

We're staying off-site. When we get to Universal, how do we get to the parks?
We've been there before, but always used an escalator or the stairs to get from the parking lot to where you catch the moving walkway to the parks.......

Are there any rides at Universal or IOA that he won't be able to do? Is everything "accessible" in the Potter section? Single rider lines? :confused3

Any other advice you can give us would be appreciated! Thanks!!

I would ask your doctor's office today if you can get a note that will allow you a handicap tag, then head over to the DMV to get one. That will allow you to park to closer to the parks so it is easier for your DH to get there. This helped me out greatly a few years ago when we went to Disney and I just got the pins taken out of my leg.

Most rides will have elevators if there are stairs for DH to use and most rides he will still be able to get on. You can also stop at Guest Services if you have any questions on this. I know FJ is pretty strict on who gets on and I don't think they will allow anyone with broken body parts on the ride :( But most the other rides he will be able to get on, might need to stear clear of the roller coasters.

Hope you guys still have a great time, just don't overdue it. I tried to keep going and walk further than I needed to and regreted it each night.

Oh that sucks about FJ! Hopefully you're mistaken?

We won't have a car, so we'll be taxiing or taking the hotel shuttle. Is there an elevator or ramp up from the parking lot area to the main walkway?

Definitely hop on over to the Disabilities board, they'll have lots of answers to your questions.

One specific I can give is that we stayed at a WDW hotel and used Mears to shuttle to Universal. I had rented an offsite ECV, and just had to arrange with Mears in advance so that an appropriate sized van could be sent.

Good luck!
Terri

Best wishes to your hubby on a speedy recovery!! Hope you have a great vacation anyway! You're probably there now but if you're reading this, stop by guest services at the entrance to each park and they will tell you what you guys can and can't ride. Good luck. :thumbsup2
