Im not really happy about this, but reality is knocking, so I thought I should start asking.

Hubby got very sick on our last trip and had his gallbladder removed as soon as we got home. He has to eat low-fat now. We both changed our diets drastically, so we are both eating low-fat and fat free food now.

Anyway, that throws off our WDW dining. I typically eat really rich foods while we are there. The lobster soup at Coral Reef is my favorite. :sad1: No more soup for me.

Anyway, I CR has salmon and lobster and some grilled things that are low fat. The thing is I stink at telling what has fat and what doesnt. Anyone else have to deal with this? Can I find out fat content on menus?

Where are some good FS places to eat? We have the dining plan and Im not sure what to do besides eat sandwiches.

Hope this helps...but it looks like your going to have to plan you menu before leave.

I think eating out at Disney is the same as eating out at home. Lean meats and fish should be easy to come by and you can ask for them to prepare yours with no oil. You can also asked for steamed veggies or plain rice (no butter, etc), most places will let you 'mix and match' your protein and your sides as long as it appears as a side already with another dish on the menu. Ask for no sauces or sauces on the side. Most food courts will allow you to order egg whites for breakfast, but again, ask them to make sure they prepare it with no oil.
Check out the menus on allears.net, they will give you a good idea of what is available. I know that some CS places offer a turkey sandwich, and many TS restaurants do (it's all DH will eat for lunch most of the time, so I'm always on the look out for them!)

thank you for the link. i emailed to ask disney. apparently i can make food requests...but it sounds time consuming.

i know eating grilled food, fish, chicken, etc is supposed to be ok, but eating out locally has been tough. i look for low fat stuff on the menu and a lot of it still is cooked in butter. we cant eat butter. and i cant taste it and tell either. im not good at that yet. they are putting butter on steamed veggies - at least it tastes like it - at outback and chilis - they are dripping. they taste good, but i havent had luck in getting steamed veggies without anything on them either.

i was so hoping they'd have a special menu with the caloric and fat content. or a little LOW FAT sign next to some of the food. some restaurants have started doing that. i still dont know how much fat is in it, but at least i know its less than something else on the menu.
