Help! How to check seat status?

I think I remember someone posting on here on how to see how full a flight is. I did a search and couldn't find anything. Could someone provide a link or instruction's. I'll be flying northwest out of Detroit. Thanks, Susan

American Express travel will give you a chart of open seats. There are probably more open seats than they are showing because some are held for airport check-in, but it gives you an idea. Just go through the reservation process and when you get to the itinerary screen, hit select seats. What is nice about this site is you don't have to login to see the seat chart.
